Talyn, can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised in the vibrant city of London, UK, I was fortunate to receive a global education that took me to diverse countries such as Japan, Morocco, and the United States. From a young age, I held a strong aspiration to become a diplomat, envisioning myself engaging in international affairs and representing my country on the global stage. However, as I embarked on my career in diplomacy, I began to realize that the path of a traditional diplomat might not align with my personal values and ethics.
The notion that my actions would be dictated by external forces, with little room for independent decision-making or consideration of the ethical implications, troubled me deeply. I yearned for the autonomy to make choices based on what I believed was right, rather than simply saying “yes” and disregarding any potential negative consequences. Realizing that I couldn’t reconcile this conflict in the long term, I made a pivotal decision to shift gears and work alongside diplomats and politicians, providing guidance and support from a different perspective.
For over a decade, I immersed myself in the world of diplomacy, gaining valuable insights into the intricate dynamics of international relations and the art of effective communication. My consultancy, Grassroot Diplomat, allowed me to work closely with diplomats and politicians, helping them navigate complex challenges and make meaningful connections with individuals and communities across the globe.
However, I decided to relocate my life to the United States in 2019 to my husband’s hometown (hello, life swap!). This major life change prompted me to reassess my career and explore new avenues where I could apply my expertise and passion. It was during this time that I identified an opportunity to empower small businesses and entrepreneurs to unlock their full potential. That’s when I founded Boss Diplomat – a branding consultancy designed for solopreneur businesses to become their very own Brand Ambassadors.

I can’t say enough about Mackenzie and the incredible journey we embarked on together. From the moment we met, there was an instant connection, and I knew deep down that our paths would intertwine in a meaningful way. Little did I know just how transformative our collaboration would be.
We discovered the perfect opportunity to join forces when Mackenzie decided to rebrand her fitness company. It was a lightbulb moment when we realized that not only could I assist her with her business, but she could also guide me on my personal fitness journey. It was a win-win situation that we couldn’t pass up.
Being someone who has always been physically active, I had already begun my journey into strength training, CrossFit, and boxing in 2017. I had adopted clean eating habits and trained diligently, but the progress was frustratingly slow. I felt like I had hit a plateau, yearning for a way to take my fitness to the next level.
In 2022, I made the decision to work with Mackenzie as my personal trainer, placing my trust in her to bridge the gap and help me reach new heights. And let me tell you, she exceeded all expectations.
Setting a modest goal of losing 5 pounds, knowing how challenging weight loss had been for me, I embarked on this journey with cautious optimism. Mackenzie patiently guided me through the intricacies of macros, teaching me how to measure food, read labels, and fuel myself with complete nutritional information. She showed me how to make intelligent swaps without sacrificing the flavors and foods I loved. In just a few weeks, I learned more from Mackenzie than I could have in years on my own, despite already being fit and healthy.
To my astonishment, I lost 5 pounds in the first week and crushed my initial goals. It was a jaw-dropping moment that compelled me to quickly reassess and set new aspirations. I decided to extend our partnership for an additional 3 months because I wanted to continue soaking up Mackenzie’s wealth of knowledge, not just in training but in the intricate world of nutrition. Her weekly guidance and check-ins became the highlight of my fitness routine, and her personalized video feedback kept me motivated and focused. She became my biggest supporter, my cheerleader, and my trusted ally.
I wasn’t lost on my fitness journey; I was simply stuck. Mackenzie skillfully guided me through those blind spots, uncovering minor tweaks that made all the difference.
