Today we’d like to introduce you to Teresa Young.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The next chapter of my journey started in 2018 with a move from Memphis to Pleasant View. After retiring from teaching in Memphis and a 20-year part-time career at Sherwin-Williams, I decided to move up this way and build a coffee truck. Little did I know that running the streets of Middle Tennessee serving coffee from a window would lead to Street Coffee becoming a hip little coffee bar in Pleasant View. I love interacting with people. Life is about creating and building relationships. A kind word, a smile, or a listening ear can change a person’s day. The Coffee Bar has allowed me to create an atmosphere where people can come together, unwind, grab a bite, or just to sip in silence. It is a place to reconnect, build, and create relationships.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I learned a long time ago it is ten percent what happens and ninety percent how you respond. We opened our doors in May 2020. Covid was well underway, but there was no turning back. My family and friends were there with me through it all and once the doors were open; my new friends (customers) soon became like family to me. They have stayed with me and give words of encouragement when they are needed. These are the relationships that I speak of building. I have been blessed beyond measure to live in a community that has allowed us to remain open through these unknown times and the love shown by the community by supporting us. My crew has been and continues to be amazing. My personal struggle has been managing young people. This is on me. With their help, I improve daily.
As you know, we’re big fans of Street Coffee Coffee Bar. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Street Coffee is a hip little coffee bar in Pleasant View, TN. We create unique experiences that bring people together. The vibe of our little space is what makes us. We have a meeting room that allows people to work, take calls, have zoom meetings, etc. Our little comfy area allows a comfortable space for you to read, scroll, visit, or just rest your mind. There is a bar in the front window that is great for doing a little work, people watching or just sipping.
I am most proud of the vibe we create, the relationships we build, and our Coffee Bar family! You will love our crew! We take pride in the quality and consistency of our products.
The menu consists of Espresso, Lattes, Iced Lattes, Iced Coffee, Fresh Brewed Coffee, Milkshakes, Smoothies, Italian Cream Sodas, Protein Shakes, Energy Drinks, Wine, Beer, Coffee Liqueurs, and yummy pastries and food.
Fueled by Coffee, Spirits, and Good Vibes!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My family and friends have been my biggest cheerleaders, advocates, and supporters through the entire build. Stephanie, Mark, Cody, and Don put in as much sweat and tears as I did. We built the walls, installed equipment, and made it happen. I cannot thank them enough. They know I love them. My sister pushed me on the business end and encouraged me daily. A shout-out to Shannon Lee for all of your help getting us up and going!

Love this coffee bar! Teresa has become a friend and she has a staff. Pleasant View is lucky to have such a place.
