Meet Thallen Brassel of Lady Lunch Club

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thallen Brassel.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2017, I was promoted while working as an attorney in a large law firm. My new title required that I build a substantial roster of paying clients in need of legal services. At the time, this task seemed overwhelming… considering how my professional and social networks lacked influential, decision-making professionals. I quickly learned that many other women also face limited access to business leaders. As a remedy, Lady Lunch Club was born to offer access to leaders in business (and life), across a variety of professions. We began to host lunch events and develop content to assist professional women with personal development and networking. Our roster of presenters include Mignon Francois (Cupcake Collection), Dr. Mary Gingrass (Plastic Surgery Center of Nashville), and Judge Faith Jenkins (Divorce Court).

Lady Lunch Club is currently adapting to the post-pandemic climate and is launching new digital offerings in 2022!

I am also thrilled to have moved beyond my time as Associate and Of Counsel in “BigLaw” to now serve as Assistant General Counsel at Nike, Inc. My current role is exciting, challenging, and impactful, and it feels great to now be one of the business professionals in corporate America that I once admired!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As with many small businesses, Lady Lunch Club has used the pandemic as a point to pivot our business model and approach to broader-reaching digital content.

From a personal perspective, I have embraced the rewarding challenge of developing a career that is personally meaningful, fulfilling and impactful. I am so grateful for the Nike community and the privilege to support the customer experience through my work.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lady Lunch Club is a digital company, creating content on personal development for professional women. This company is a personal passion project that has expanded to over one thousand women in our community. Lady Lunch Club focuses on equipping women with the tools they need to achieve professional goals they did not think were possible.

Early on, we hosted monthly intimate lunches at Nashville’s hottest restaurants. Our community was built on a spirit of learning, support, and trust. As we pivoted during the pandemic, our focus is now to expand our reach by providing meaningful community and development opportunities via online courses and member engagement.

I am most proud of the professional women who we have inspired to take risks and go after their dreams! The talent in our community is unmatched, and our programming has helped to catalyze amazing, positive change and achievement for so many women.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I have taken quite a few calculated risks in my career. Most notably, my transition from a law firm attorney to an in-house career has been one of the most rewarding for my professional journey. For many years, I honed my craft working in law firms from Wall Street to Nashville, and I am certain that the expertise gained in corporate law, technology, e-commerce, and digital media, has led me to my dream job as Assistant General Counsel for Nike, supporting Nike Direct Digital Commerce.

My best advice on risk is to always bet on yourself!
