Meet Trevor Martin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Martin.

Trevor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey has been a crazy one! At birth, I was diagnosed with severe Hemophilia and was rushed to Vanderbilt Hospital at 2 days old.

My parents thought I wasn’t going to make it, but luckily the doctors knew what to do and assured them I would be okay! I say all that because that has really shaped who I am today. Growing up, I couldn’t play football, which I definitely would have done, so I had to find other ways to stay active.

I started in community theater and sang in church at the start. Eventually, I was asked to sing with the local orchestra in my town for a show called Motown Madness.

At 8 years old, I was working with the best singers and musicians in my hometown of Bowling Green, and that experience really made me mature at an early age. I sang “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5 and got a standing ovation from a crowd of 1,000 every night. That was a turning point moment for me when I knew I wanted to do music my whole life.

In late elementary school, I took up acting for the camera. My parents and I would take monthly trips to LA and I would audition, take classes, and meet people in the tv and film industry.

That was a lot of fun and was another maturing moment for me. Some experiences that I had over that time were having one on one director’s sessions with J.J. Abram and Cameron Crowe, and I appeared in the projects “Vice Principals” (Danny McBride, Bill Murray), “90 Minutes in Heaven”(Hayden Christensen, Kate Bosworth), and Red Road (Jason Momoa).

After high school, I decided to go to Belmont University to study music, and that is where I was truly molded into the pop-country artist I am today!

I studied at the School of Music at Belmont and graduated in 2019. Since then, I have been living in Nashville writing songs, playing shows, and recording and releasing songs. I am currently set to release my 9th single “Small Town Love” on May 27th.

That is following some successful releases of “Keeper” (written with Autumn Marie Buysse and Claire Carruthers), “Wife You Up” (written with Spencer Crandall), and “Dream Girl” (written with Curt Gibbs and Emma Klein). it has been an amazing feeling to see people responding to these songs, and I am very excited to get them out to as many country music fans as I can!

I am stoked to share more!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like everything in life, it has had its ups and downs. It requires a lot of patience to be in the music industry.

You will hear a lot of “No’s,” and oftentimes you may hear nothing which is always frustrating especially when you are so passionate about what you are working on.

My main thing lately has been “control what you can control.” This means writing the best songs I can, meeting as many people as I can, producing the best recordings that I can, and everything will fall into place!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a pop-country artist/songwriter here in Nashville. I love to get with my friends, write and create music, and share it with country music fans. Right now, I feel that my specialty is love songs.

My latest release is a song called “Keeper” and it is a love song that says, “I’ma Keeper safe, keeper close, keeper laughing when she needs a joke, keeper wishing on the stars, keeper wrapped up in my arms… there’s no way in the world I’d ever leave cause my girl, she’s a Keeper.”

In the last 3 weeks, over 3,200 people have made a video using this song on TikTok, and just seeing how so many people have connected has been the coolest thing! They have loved telling me who their “Keeper” is whether that is their girlfriend, husband, son, daughter, or even their best friend.

How do you define success?
Success: Making a career by doing what you love. There are many different definitions of success, but if I can make a career by doing what I love in the music world, I will feel that I have had a successful life!
