Today we’d like to introduce you to Tuesday Sligh
Tuesday, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Seven years ago, I embarked on a deeply personal healing journey. I was desperate for change—not only in my life but also in my closest relationships. I longed to understand why certain cycles and patterns kept repeating, despite years of therapy that had given me insight into emotional well-being and healthy relationships.
Yet, despite all I had learned, I wasn’t any happier. In fact, I began experiencing intense physical pain in my lower back. My emotional discomfort had manifested as physical suffering, demanding my attention in a way I could no longer ignore.
Determined to go deeper, I attended a seven-day therapeutic wellness retreat at Onsite in Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee. There, I had a life-changing somatic experience. As I explored deeply stored emotional trauma, something profound happened—my back pain eased. This awakening sparked a deep curiosity within me, compelling me to learn more.
Not long after, I launched my own marketing company and was hired to promote a book and wellness retreats designed to help women break free from stagnation and rediscover their purpose. The book was inspired by a woman navigating divorce and rebuilding her life at 50. At the time, I was also going through a divorce—what many would call a midlife crisis. The parallels were undeniable.
In an almost poetic twist, I found myself marketing a service designed to help women break free from limiting patterns, while I was unknowingly preparing to do the same in my own life.
Through my personal healing journey and my work in helping others navigate theirs, I uncovered a profound truth: we don’t stay stuck in patterns, relationships, jobs, or friendships simply because we lack willpower or awareness. More often than not, it’s our nervous system keeping us there.
Our nervous system is wired for protection. The automatic responses of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn are not flaws—they are the body’s innate mechanisms for survival. But because the nervous system is constantly scanning for threats based on past experiences, it can also keep us trapped, inhibiting the very changes that would allow us to grow, heal, and step into our full potential.
Understanding this changed everything for me. My deepest inspiration now is to help others recognize that this system is alive within them—to guide them in mastering it so they can step into abundance, freedom, and the life they were truly meant to live.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest obstacles I’ve faced are the same ones that many small business entrepreneurs encounter. Beyond the external challenges, the real work lies in cultivating the self-discipline, motivation, and drive needed to keep moving forward. Even after overcoming limiting beliefs, stepping into your purpose requires an unwavering commitment to growth, resilience, and trust in yourself. The journey isn’t always easy, but the rewards—both personal and professional—make it all worthwhile.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As a Somatic Experiencing Life Coach, what I’m most proud of in
building this brand is the ability to authentically live out and share my story. It’s a testament to the deep work I’ve done—work that has allowed me to embrace vulnerability, extend grace to myself, and find true forgiveness.
So often, we celebrate success and the fruits of our labor, yet we shy away from acknowledging the pain, struggles, failures, and heartbreak that brought us here. But for me, the real power lies in sharing all of it. Doing so not only continues my own healing but also creates a profound human connection—one that encourages and supports others in navigating their own journeys. There is nothing more fulfilling than using my experiences to inspire, uplift, and remind others that they are not alone.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success in this work looks like human. connection that lends itself to trust and vulnerability in creating a safe space for other others to move into the next steps of their live lives. My ultimate goal is to be able to create a community and wellness retreats for people to come together, both virtually and in person.
