Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty Babcock. Them and their team share their story with us below:
After working for five years in East Texas, Dr. Babcock and his wife, Kelley, returned to West Nashville in 2013 to make their home and start a family, and now have three children. Dr. Babcock is Board-Certified in emergency medicine. His passion for helping people improve their health and treating chronic disease through diet and lifestyle changes led him to pursue board certification in Obesity Medicine, which he successfully completed in December 2013.
Three years ago Ty and Kelley, along with two other ER physician partners, started Complete Health Partners with four staff members. On their first day they saw 14 patients and were ecstatic. From the beginning, the Babcock family dedicated themselves to providing the best patient experience in Nashville. The goal was to become the trusted neighborhood location for patients to access almost all of their everyday health needs.
The Babcocks knew that in order to reach this goal, they had to be the kindest and most efficient practice in town. The mission became clear: They wanted to revolutionize the quality, efficiency, and delivery of patient care through the best people using the best technology. They grew, built a phenomenal team of nine providers and started talking about expanding to a Downtown location. Then COVID hit.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When COVID hit, The Babcocks talked a lot about what was going to happen to their little clinic as things started to shut down and supply chains dried up. Mask orders were not fulfilled, and they didn’t know where to find more. Patients were afraid to come inside. Complete Health Partners went from seeing 40-50 patients a day to seeing 10-20.
Just like everyone else, they had no idea what was going to happen. Questions began to circle. “Would we be allowed to stay open? Could we get enough PPE to protect our staff? Do we turn away people who needed care because we don’t know enough about this virus? How do we get testing supplies? Would we be able to survive this financially?”
Ty and Kelley looked back at their mission and knew they had figure out a way to stay open to continue to employ their team and to care for their neighbors. Unless they were legally required to shut down, Complete Health Partners would find a way to stay open.
Ty read and read and read. He didn’t sleep much at all. He and the other providers learned everything they could about this virus and how other countries had succeeded in battling it. And then he brought the team his idea: opening a tent to care for people safely outside. While it sounded absolutely crazy, on March 17th, 2020, Complete Health Partners opened their tent and started requiring all patients with respiratory symptoms be seen outside to keep the inside safe & virus-free. They figured out how to get testing supplies. They wrote state politicians and dentists and neighborhood handymen to get face masks & PPE. And they kept on seeing their patients.
Since then, Complete Health Partners has opened up two new locations in Downtown Nashville on 3rd and Church, and in Hendersonville on West Main Street. They have never lost sight of their mission to care for their community by revolutionizing the quality, efficiency, and delivery of patient care through the best people using the best technology.
