Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanesaq Quiroz

Hi VanesaQ, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I came to Nashville just to visit my Dad who was working here. I finished College in Mexico, and I decided I wanted to spend some time with him before I start looking for a job in Mexico. After a few months he told me he wanted to open a restaurant, so I help him. We opened in 2015 in Mt Juliet TN. After a few months I knew it was not what I wanted to do so I started looking for other options. And I went to a radio station for an interview (because I went to school for communication) so they ask for an audition, I did it and I started working at the morning show. After a few months I knew I needed more income, so I had to changed jobs, I started working for Amazon, and as a waitress, until one day an ex-coworker from the Radio Station told me an Agency was looking for someone who would like to work as an insurance agent, but I would have to study to get the license. It was a better job, and I was willing to study for the exam, so they hired me. I passed the test after almost 1 year of studying and trying. I worked at the Agency for 2 years, then I went to another agency and after almost 3 years of working as an agent for this insurance agencies I saw the opportunity to do it my own. I started investigating more about it, and after some challenges I opened my own agency. I became a Broker, but I wanted to be able to be able to take care of customers even when other agencies where closed. Because I saw that people sometimes after work, they do not want to go to the Agency to add a vehicle or make a payment. So, I decided I will do everything electronically. I do not have a physical office, but I will be able to take calls or text messages from my customers and help them even on the weekends, and at the same time I can have time for myself, family and friends. And customer love that, they want to solve things fast without having to drive or wait long hours on the phone to make a change on their insurance.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
for me things were pretty smooth because in the beginning I start my agency as a second job, I was doing other things and at the same time taking care of customers.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My agency is only for car and apartment insurance. I can do other type of insurance, but I wanted to offer a good service and good options for car insurance, also help my customers with claims, and be more like a personal Insurance agent. My customers call me, text me, ask questions, and I find answers. I have a good connection with them. That is on what I specialize, customer service. I love to help them threw claims and solve problems for customers that does not speak English so is harder for them to communicate with the adjusters.

What were you like growing up?
Create more jobs for other women, opportunities like mine, so they can work from home if they want to and at the same time help others and have time to do other things they like and enjoy
