Meet Vanessa LeBlanc of The LeBlanc Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Leblanc.

Hi Vanessa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, I knew I was destined to be a teacher. I worked hard, went to college, and became one! I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such amazing students, educational staff, and families over the 14 years I spent in the classroom. Being a teacher requires a great deal of patience, creativity, and compassion. I poured my heart and soul into the amazing kids I impacted each year!

I adored the kids that I was able to teach but grew exhausted and anxious. I knew that I was making a difference in the lives of my students, but I became worn out and beaten down. I had lost my true self over the years. My anxiety peaked and I was struggling. I wasn’t able to be my best self and give my best to my family! Being a mom, this hurt and I knew there was more for me and for my family.

I was eager to grow, learn and become my best self again. I was hungry for more! I wanted to regain control of my life and start dreaming again. After much thought and discussion, my husband and I decided that it was time for a change, a HUGE one. We agreed moving out of state was our next big move. We narrowed it down to Tennessee for the beautiful mountains, rivers, and mild weather. We visited often and made a plan.

As we made a commitment to move to Tennessee, I started looking into teaching opportunities. With a Master’s +30 and 14 years of experience in special education, they would have welcomed me at a whopping $45,000/year.

WHAT!?!? I sure knew that I deserved to get paid what I was worth- and I was worth a lot more than that! Our educational system sure is broken. Transitioning out of the classroom was one of the hardest choices that I’ve ever made. Change is hard and deciding what to do next was tough. I knew I was passionate about impacting and helping others. I wanted to completely shift gears and explore what the business ownership route looked like. I wanted to be in business with like-minded people that strived to do good in the world. I wanted to continue to impact the lives of others. I wanted to be around those with a positive attitude and strived to do their best. I wanted to get paid my worth.

I never dreamed of working in the financial and insurance industry but was drawn to the leadership development opportunities, the ability to become my own boss and focus on becoming a better/stronger me, make my own schedule, and develop/lead a team. This career change was so scary and required me to learn and lead myself again, a huge piece that I had been missing. I quickly started working on myself by waking up earlier to feed my mind, body, and soul. I’ve learned from many of the greatest inspirational speakers and authors how to propel my life forward to dream again. I’ve learned that what I say to myself shapes my brain and impacts my thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Now, as a family, we enjoy abundant amounts of lake time, hiking, and enjoying all of the beauty and adventures that Tennessee has to offer. I volunteer at my son’s school and am able to attend his sporting events. I’m taking care of my mind, body, spirit, and family. I volunteer in the community and I’m proud of where I am and where I am going!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a business and transitioning from a steady W-2 job to a 1099 is hard!

There was a lot of mindset work that needed to be done. I needed to grow into the leader and entrepreneur that I needed to be to win. I had a lot to learn about business ownership, sales, and insurance products. I had to create a system and schedule that allowed me to be productive and create results. I had to create goals to challenge myself and then hold myself accountable for these goals.

Building a strong team is crucial for the success of any business. Hiring the right people with the right skills, drive, and grit is essential. Sorting through the stacks of resumes to find hungry and humble people takes a lot more time than expected.

Growing and scaling a business can be challenging, especially when trying to balance growth with maintaining quality and customer satisfaction. As a new business owner, balancing it all is harder than it seems.

Cash flow management is vital to the success of any business. Ensuring that there is enough cash on hand to cover expenses and invest in growth is critical. Financial planning was never a strength of mine, so I’ve been learning a lot through the transition.

In today’s fast-paced business environment, staying ahead of the competition requires constant innovation and adaptation. It’s important to stay current with market trends and continuously improve our systems and processes.

We’ve been impressed with The LeBlanc Group, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As I build a business in the life insurance industry, I’m honored to do two things:

1. I help coachable, positive people build a business of their own in the most profitable industry in the world. The flexibility and the opportunity for growth are beyond all words! I am building a team of people who are coachable, committed, and consistent. It’s exciting to help others close the gap from where they are to where they want to be. What excites me about the future in this industry is being able to help others achieve their dreams, goals, and aspirations. It’s empowering to help others develop the mindset and leadership skills to build a legacy for their family and dream big again.

2. I help people protect what matters most and build a brighter, more secure future for themselves and their loved ones. As an agent, I have the unique opportunity to provide peace of mind and financial security to families and individuals alike. My work as a life insurance agent involves building relationships with my clients and understanding their unique needs and goals. I help them navigate the often-complex world of insurance, providing guidance and advice on the best policies to fit their individual circumstances.

Being a life insurance agent is much more than just selling policies. It’s about helping people protect the ones they love and ensuring that they have the resources they need to build a brighter future. My work has the potential to make a profound impact on the lives of my clients, giving them the security they need to pursue their dreams and live with confidence.

The feeling you get from protecting a family is incredible. Seeing the impact of having protection, when someone loses a loved one or becomes critically ill is indescribable. Helping people create a financial plan that gives them peace of mind about their family’s future is rewarding! What we do matters. Life insurance matters.
