Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent “Big Daddy” Pitts.
Hi Vincent, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a born and raised Nashville native! Graduating from Pearl-Cohn High School in 2015 and Nossi College of Arts in May 2026. As a young boy, I have always had a heart to serve others and I know God has ordained me to do that. My mother started me in the kitchen helping her bake fudge pie’s and other simple dishes. At 3 years old I would be helping my late great-grandmother shape and fry “hot water cornbread” on a small stool. Throughout my youth I would observe my maternal grandmother do decorations and set up for family gatherings and events as well as being apart of the kitchen and hospitality committee at my church learning to cook food in bulk and become detail oriented from my late Mentor Mother Peaches Manning. Throughout my teenager years I worked in various career paths but I somehow shined the most in the food industry and enjoyed learning various dishes and cuisine, while growing in rank and positions. I thank God for allowing me the grace to learn hands on and grow and start my catering business in 2019. My motto is sometimes in life you fall down, but you have to get up.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has not been smooth. Scripture teaches me “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9). In today’s culture it’s so easy to have your mindset on one thing but God has the control to detour you and put you somewhere else. I’ve learned just to hold on and never lose your faith. Its been times I was without a car trying to operate my catering business, briefly homeless and estranged from my family, battled depression and suicide, have been taken advantage of from people I thought cared for me, amongst many other struggles. I have had moments when I overpromised clients and under delivered, clients not pay me for rendered service, personally came out of pocket to provide services and more. My biggest block has been understanding how a true wealthy “business” should operate and I’ve learned that there are many gate keepers in this industry that try and keep you from learning and sharing their wisdom for success.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
