Rising Stars: Meet Aaron McLaurin of New Regular Lifestyle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron McLaurin.

Hi Aaron, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I had a passion for both people and sports. In high school, I decided to become a physical education teacher. I started teaching and coaching at Heritage High School in Newport News VA, and then I got the chance to go to grad school at Michigan State. I found my way into the weight room as a graduate assistant, fell in love with it, and worked my butt off. That led to opportunities in the NFL as a strength and conditioning coach with the Vikings, and later the Jets. Eventually, I led performance for an XFL champion. All that experience inspired me to found New Regular Lifestyle, where I now combine my passion for education, partnerships, and empowering everyday people to achieve pro-level performance.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life threw its challenges—like family losses and even losing jobs along the way. But through all the bumps and bruises, I also had incredible moments—times of growth, success, and a lot of good times. In the end, it’s all shaped who I am today, and it’s why I’m so passionate about sharing what I’ve learned with others.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a strength and conditioning coach, educator, and founder of New Regular Lifestyle, a wellness and performance platform dedicated to bringing professional-level fitness, wellness, and performance education to a broader audience. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in the NFL, major college athletics, and professional football, helping athletes maximize performance and navigate the demands of high-level competition.

Through New Regular Lifestyle, we created the NRL EDGE Webinar Series, which gives coaches, athletes, healthcare professionals, and fitness enthusiasts direct access to some of the top minds in the industry. Our speakers have included professionals from organizations such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, Philadelphia 76ers, Bowling Green State University, Clemson University, and the Washington Commanders, among others.

What I’m most proud of is building a platform that extends the impact of elite performance education beyond professional sports. What sets me apart is my ability to take concepts and strategies used at the highest levels and make them practical, relatable, and actionable for everyday people, coaches, and athletes.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was pretty easygoing and loved being active. If there was a sport, game, or activity going on, I wanted to be involved. I enjoyed competing, being around teammates, and challenging myself, but I was also naturally curious and always wanted to know the “why” behind things. Whether it was sports, training, or life in general, I was constantly asking questions and trying to understand how things worked. Looking back, that combination of being active, enjoying people, and wanting to learn has really shaped who I am and ultimately led me into coaching, education, and performance.
