Rising Stars: Meet Aimee Harmon of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aimee Harmon.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Opening a store had always been a dream of mine. I started talking to a few other local boutique owners to learn what the process looked like, thinking maybe I’d slowly work toward it and open something 10–15 years down the road.

Instead, within two weeks, I had the keys to a storefront and a grand opening date.

What started as a small dream quickly became a very big reality. We originally began in a smaller space, but before we even opened, we were offered a larger location right on the corner of our town square.

Since then, Modern Revival has grown into a space people have truly come to love. We carry a variety of locally sourced and handmade products, and from time to time we host events within our space that bring the community together.

We’ve also expanded into the MR Lounge — what I lovingly call Watertown’s little speakeasy for guys. It’s a laid-back space with seating areas, a big-screen TV always playing sports, snacks, coffee, beard care, grilling products, and of course… ammo. In fact, we’re the only place in Watertown where you can buy ammo, and it’s been a huge hit with the guys.

And we’re only continuing to grow. From expanding our online presence to partnering with more local businesses and makers, our goal has always been to create more than just a store. We want Modern Revival to feel like an experience — a place where people feel welcomed, inspired, and connected to the community around them. And honestly, we’re just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. There have been plenty of days where I’ve questioned if this was the right path for me.

I actually began this journey with a business partner, but she eventually decided to step away after realizing this path wasn’t for her. And honestly, I understood that. Owning a business isn’t easy.

I know deep down this is the path for me, but that doesn’t mean it’s always smooth. There are still days that are incredibly hard — days where I wonder if I should go back to my old job and choose the security of a regular paycheck and a schedule that ends when you clock out.

Working for yourself is not for the faint of heart. It’s not a 40-hour-a-week position either — it’s 24/7. Your mind never really shuts off. You carry the weight of the business, the decisions, the finances, the employees, the inventory, the marketing… all of it.

But even with the hard days, I wouldn’t trade the feeling of building something that truly means something to me and to this community. The difficult moments have shaped me just as much as the successful ones have.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Modern Revival, we specialize in creating an experience — not just a shopping trip. We’ve built a space that blends home décor, gifts, plants, apparel, locally made products, vintage finds, and community all under one roof.

One thing that truly sets us apart is that we are constantly evolving. We’re always looking for unique products, creative displays, new ideas, and ways to make people feel excited when they walk through our doors. We want the store to feel welcoming, inspiring, and different every time someone visits.

We’re also very passionate about supporting local makers and small businesses. A huge part of our store is dedicated to locally sourced and handmade products because we believe community matters.

I think what we’re most known for is creating a place that feels personal. Whether it’s our events, our social media presence, the MR Lounge, our FRIENDS-themed dressing room, or even just the way we connect with customers online, people know there’s personality behind this business.

What I’m most proud of is that this store has become more than just a retail space. It has become a gathering place, a creative outlet, and a business that people genuinely root for. Seeing people choose to shop small with us, support our vision, and bring their friends and family into the store is something I never take for granted.

I’m also proud that we’ve continued to grow while staying true to who we are. In a world where so many businesses try to copy trends, we’ve worked hard to create something that feels authentic to us and to our town.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
One thing I’d love for people to know is that Watertown is truly a special place. There’s something unique about this town that’s hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it for yourself. It has small-town charm, history, creativity, and a sense of community that people are craving these days.

Our town square is filled with locally owned businesses, historic buildings, events, music, and people who genuinely care about supporting one another. Whether someone is visiting for a train excursion, one of our large market events, or simply spending the day exploring, there’s always something happening here.

I think businesses like Modern Revival are a reflection of what makes Watertown special. We’re not just trying to sell products — we’re trying to create connection, experiences, and community. From hosting events to supporting local makers to creating spaces like the MR Lounge, we want people to feel welcome the moment they walk through the door.

Watertown is growing, evolving, and becoming a destination while still holding onto the character that makes it unique. I feel incredibly grateful to be a small part of that story and excited to continue growing alongside this amazing community.
