Rising Stars: Meet Alessio and Jessi Pasini

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alessio and Jessi Pasini.

Alessio and Jessi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We started dating 8 years ago when we were both living in New Orleans. From day one, we were working our way through the funniest culture shocks- things like Jessi not adding salt to the water when cooking pasta, or Alessio not knowing what Fettuccine Alfredo was. It was a way we bonded and got to know each other’s traditions and cultures.

We started sharing these funny moments on social media and learned that so many other couples were experiencing similar things. We loved being a source of relatable entertainment and an inspiration to other couples from different cultures to laugh through these moments and use them as relationship builders rather than breakers. Once we started sharing daily videos, we got hooked! It’s a way for us to have fun together while making light-hearted, fun content for others.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
We’ve definitely had our challenges along the way! Probably the first and biggest challenge was the language barrier.

When we met, Alessio didn’t know any English, and Jessi didn’t know any Italian. We actually communicated for a long time via Google Translate. We would text each other, copy and paste the message to translate it, and then write back. In-person and on dates, we often had to translate in real-time and we spent several of our first dates teaching each other words in our respective languages.

We thought of it as a challenge to take on together rather than a roadblock and we never looked back!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’re now known as “The Pasinis” online and we’ve recently made the transition to working full-time in social media. We now share short videos daily on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube and long videos on YouTube to showcase our travels and food tastings. It’s a lot of fun and we feel very fortunate to be able to do this kind of work. Probably one thing that most people underestimate (we know we did before we started!) is the number of hours and work that goes into one single video. We can spend 3-4 hours planning, filming, and editing a 30-second short!

In our videos, we focus on our relationship challenges (Alessio being from Italy, and Jessi being from Tennessee), travel vlogs, food taste tests, etc. We’re very proud to be able to work together successfully as a couple. We spend all day together and we love it!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
We’re big risk-takers! Before we got started on social media, we actually had a wedding floral business. After living in New Orleans for a few years, we decided to move back to Jessi’s hometown of Nashville and open a business together. We dropped our steady jobs in Louisiana, loaded up a U-Haul, and made the move without having anything lined up job-wise in TN. It was a HUGE risk.

We spent our first few months throwing ourselves into starting the new business, teaching ourselves how to build a website, how to maximize SEO, how to get ranked on Google and social media, etc. It was three months before we booked our first floral job and when we did, it was for just a few bridal bouquets and we made about $150. We were THRILLED because we were finally out there. With motivation and determination, we grew that business into a very successful full-time wedding company. We believe we wouldn’t have had that success though if we hadn’t taken the risk and thrown ourselves head-first into the deep end.

When it comes to risk-taking, there’s definitely an element of preparation involved, but at some point, you’ve got to just dive in and believe that you’ll find the success you’re looking for. Believing in your own ability for success can drive you to do the hard work to make your goals a reality.
