Rising Stars: Meet Andrea Veltri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Veltri.

Hi Andrea, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Music has always been a part of my life from a very young age. When I was 5, I received my very first guitar and I had been singing since I could talk. I started taking lessons when I was 6, and never looked back. When I was 8, I started performing in a punk/rock band as the lead vocalist and guitar! For 5 years with my band, “The Heartbreakers,” I was able to explore so many different types of music and really expand the type of artist I wanted to be. Unfortunately, our band decided to go separate ways, and I was a teenager trying to find my voice. I had started writing songs at 9, so I was really navigating through my artistry. I found a home in country music, but I love taking things from my punk, rock, and pop background as well and incorporating that into my songs. In doing so, I have been performing and sharing my music with any ears that will listen! I have had opportunities to open for well-known artists like Jana Kramer, Anna Nalick, and Jason Michael Carroll, and those moments have helped shape me into the artist I am today. I released my debut EP “Starting Over” on October 22, 2021. These 7 songs really show how I have shaped and defined myself over the past few years and this EP marks a completely new chapter for me and my music.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I will definitely be the first to say that this road has been anything but smooth, but that is just how life goes sometimes. I have learned though to just take things as they come. Having disappointment and frustration are inevitable, and that goes for everything, not just music. Personally, I have had worked with people who I thought were in my corner, but at the end of the day, their priorities were somewhere else. And that’s okay because I was able to learn more about myself in the process and grow through those experiences.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a singer, songwriter, and musician! I started performing in a band when I was young and I then began writing songs when I was 9 and fell in love with it. My current genre is country, but I love incorporating pop and rock and really meshing the three together.

I would say that I am becoming more known for my vulnerability and honesty through my songwriting. My favorite thing in the world is writing songs and going through the process of creating them. My lyrics are what I am most proud of, so having the ears of so many people listening and knowing can be intimidating, but I think that is what they relate to the most. I don’t know that this necessarily sets me apart from others, but what helps me stand out is that I am not afraid to be honest in the art I am creating. When I had started writing, I would be nervous or afraid of what others would think, but the more I would create, I realized that that is exactly what I would look for in the music made by the artists and songwriters I admired.

What matters most to you? Why?
I would say that staying true to myself and surrounding myself with family and genuinely good-hearted people is what matters most to me. Often times people can get caught up in the rush of things and really not see the blessings they have around them. I am so fortunate to have such loving and supportive people around me that keep me grounded. My mom and dad are hands down the two best people I know, and they have believed in and supported in me since day one. I know that the things I am doing and accomplishing wouldn’t be possible without them.

It also matters that I, myself, am kind, genuine, and honest person. I always want people to know that I value them and that they can put their trust in me.
