Today we’d like to introduce you to Annette Smith.
Hi Annette, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved music, My mother told me when I was a toddler I used to fall asleep on the speaker listening to the rolling stones. So I guess my love started very young, I have been told I am a master of name that tune, and some of my best memories are from sitting around with friends playing the game.
During covid, we all had extra time on our hands, so I thought that I should do something creative. Maybe a Podcast?
Then one night my husband and I were having a drink and passing the phone back in forth playing songs and telling stories about what they meant to us and Tyler said this is what your podcast should be about.
Have people create a playlist and go through the memories of the songs, so that night we went into the office and recorded our first show and he was the first guest. No script it’s completely raw. If you watch our first episode on YouTube it’s a gong show.
That’s how the music Junkies podcast started.
I started reaching out to friends and asking if they would be a guest on the show, not knowing where it would go just to practice really and everyone loved the idea, I had 50 episodes already done before I even decide to publish, it been an incredible journey to see it grown over the world
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Finding an editor has been the biggest struggle.
I have people every day wanting to be on the show I can’t keep up.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a host of the Music Junkies podcast.
This podcast is all about stories from amazing people and the extraordinary ways music has influenced their lives.
With provocative conversations, Filthy humor, and outrageous questions.
I am in love with this I love that I get to meet people all over the world and walk through their lives in 60 mins
the good bad and the ugly, there is not another podcast that is doing this and there is only one Annette in the world thank god for that LOL.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in a household full of drug and alcohol abuse, so I learn to survive, I was a pleaser with huge abandonment issues which was hard on my friends because I had a temper. I learned lots of life lessons the hard way, but I have always been very driven to have a better life. My grandfather instills in me an amazing work ethic and the to be myself, which has gotten me into trouble more than once. Music was my escape and still is.
