Rising Stars: Meet Ben Murphy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Murphy.

Hi Ben, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Before the music, we grew up as brothers and cousins raised in Nashville and Georgia.

It would take another 18-20 years before the band would begin to take shape during the first year of college at the University of Georgia. We called Athens, Georgia, home for four years before returning to Nashville for the first time as “Willie Pearl”- named after our great aunt. Since 2019 the band has released two albums and is releasing singles, “Traffic” and “Night Owl” in support of a third album on February 4th.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’re mixing music, family, and business, so it’s something closer to driving a smooth ride driving down a bumpy road. We’re a tight-knit group and we’re doing what we love together but it can be a harsh business. With this group, we rely on one another and share a vision.

We’re good at try lifting each other up while keeping the when we’re writing, recording, and playing shows.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’re a band so we’re most proud of our songs and the music we write.

Right now, we’re known for hustling around town, especially for our Thursday night residency at Tin Roof on Demonbreun. We’ve had our residency for over a year now and we’ve been lucky to draw an audience that returns every week.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Come meet us in person on Thursday nights at Tin Roof, message us on social media, whatever way you’re comfortable with.

If you listen to our music, the best way to support us is to share us with your friends! If our music resonates with you, we want to hear from you.
