Rising Stars: Meet Bethany Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Jones.

Hi Bethany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always dreamt of becoming a professional photographer since about the 6th grade when I constantly took my film camera to school to document my friends and the fun times I had. I started my photography journey when I was 19 working in a corporate owned studio photographing mostly children and babies. A few years later, I had my first son and that is when I really poured my heart into photography. I loved posing him, buying all kinds of photo outfits for him, and photographing him every chance I got. That is when I decided it was time to make my dream a reality and start my photography business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say for the most part it’s been a smooth road, but like every growing business, I’ve definitely had some struggles along the way. I went from setting up props and photographing newborns in my living room to finally having a home studio.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in photographing family, maternity, newborn, and baby’s first year, although I photograph much more. I’d say I’m known for capturing the love and unposed moments between a family, the bond between parents and their newborns, and the sweet moments of a baby’s first year.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
It’s hard to pick just one, but I would say always going to the movies with my dad and my vacation with my siblings to Dauphin Island, AL.
