Rising Stars: Meet Brad Whited of Other

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Whited.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Our family of four started in 2011. From the beginning my wife Natalie and I wanted to find a way to be as healthy as possible. Caleb and I had been gardening since he was old enough to do so and we were able to introduce that to Natalie and Anaya’s life since this was a family journey. Still we wanted more, we wanted to know the health of the proteins we were eating so the jump into farm animals began.

Growing up, my grandfather John Dickens was a cattle farmer. He taught me the value of hard work and what it really takes to care for the land and animals.

As time went on Caleb started showing a deeper interest in farming, that legacy came full circle. In 2012, Whited Family Farm began with just 2 cows on 2.5 acres in Lebanon, TN. From there, we slowly grew, moving our cattle onto land my grandfather once leased.

By 2016, after gaining more knowledge and experience, Natalie and I knew we were ready for more. We found 91 acres in Watertown, TN at just the right time. We built our home, expanded our operation, and grew our herd to nearly 50 Black Angus cattle.

Today, we’re proud to be USDA certified, offering grass-fed, grass-finished beef to our community.

In 2021, what started as small gatherings with friends turned into something more, our Farm-to-Table dinners. Now, twice a year in the Spring and Fall, we invite others to experience our farm and taste the quality of our beef before they buy.

And in 2023, we took another step, trading our white tent for a cedar wood pavilion. It’s become a place where people gather, connect, and enjoy the beauty of farm life.

This farm started with family and it continues to grow because of community.

We’re just getting started 🤍

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One thing people may not realize about our journey… we didn’t grow up in farming.

Everything we know, we’ve had to learn along the way.

We started small with just a few cows and a lot of determination. It wasn’t easy. There were long days, hard lessons, and plenty of moments where we had to figure things out the hard way.

Building Whited Family Farm meant learning not only how to raise cattle the right way, but how to run a business, adapt to new technology, and keep everything moving forward even when it felt overwhelming.

Farming isn’t just physical work, it’s problem solving, constant learning, and staying committed when things get tough.

We’re still learning every day. But every challenge has helped shape what we’ve built today.

And that’s something we’re proud of.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Behind Whited Family Farm, it’s a team effort.

Brad is a full-time farmer, day in and day out, he’s on the farm working with the cattle, maintaining the land, and taking on new projects to keep things growing. Most weeks, he only leaves the farm once to head into town for supplies. The rest of his time is spent right here, making sure everything runs the way it should.

When people come to the farm, it’s often Brad they meet whether they’re picking up meat orders or purchasing directly from the property.

Natalie balances a full-time career as an ASL teacher at Green Hill High School, while still being a huge part of the farm. After a full day of teaching, she comes home and jumps right in helping wherever needed. She’s known for being an Educator of the Month and for being a multitasker wife and mom, both in the classroom and on the farm.

What we’re most proud of isn’t just what we’ve built but how we’ve built it together.

What sets us apart?
We live this life every single day. We’re hands on, hardworking, and committed, not just to our animals, but to our community and the people we serve.

This isn’t just a business. It’s our way of life.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Likes about Watertown: A very small town with a strong community. Very private and beautiful, and only 45 minutes from Nashville. You don’t have to go far to get out and away from all of the lights and get out into the country, but you also don’t have to go far to get to Nashville.

Likes about Nashville: Great place to raise a family. Great history of country music.

Dislike about Nashville: the growth, not the same how I was raised. The traffic is insane since Nashville is a constructing city and still plans to grow.
