Rising Stars: Meet Brandon Bethel of Owasso

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Bethel.

Hi Brandon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Born and raised in North Carolina, I grew up singing at church and school functions and moved to Oklahoma after high college school. I started singing karaoke and auditioned for ABC’s “The Voice” & “American Idol.” I started to learn the guitar and play small shows in 2017 and have been touring the states of Texas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anything that you’re passionate about will never be easy. It has not been smooth. There have been breakups, different addresses, and different states. I’ve been told numerous times about playing certain venues and have been looked at differently because of being an African American country singer, but I keep pushing.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a behavioral health specialist. I work with 4th, 5th, & 6th graders, specifically in the schools. Then on the weekends, I play music. At this point in my life, I am most proud that I am still alive, well, and breathing and can do the things I love to do.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I am keeping God first in everything that I do. He is why I can do what I do, and I am very blessed.
