Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Drake
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story starts with a deep clean while searching for purpose and a passion for helping others. After graduating from college I knew there was more to life than going to work and coming home unfulfilled. I asked God for signs of the direction and purpose, one day my thoughts pulled me to deep clean my house and I found my childhood and high school art, it was inspiring and a hobby I forgot I enjoyed. The next day I went to the craft store and got painting materials, the moment I opened the canvas a joy came over me, and I knew it was my sign!
Fast forward 6 years later to today I’m a artist, sip and paint instructor, live painter, and have a coloring book out.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My struggles come from denying the voice that says I’m not enough, making time for my dreams and keeping it pushing even when all things point to quitting. No one factor has been prominent in my journey but everything you can think of, I’ve been through! From childbirth x2, doubt, fear, car breaking down, tiredness, anxiety, all of them I’ve felt and I had to make the decision that my purpose was bigger than me and my present situations!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an expressive artist, wife, mother of 2, instructor, event coordinator, multi-dimensional creative and live painter that goes by the name B.Kreations.
I celebrate and uplift the beauty, strength, and resilience of black women through the transformative power of art. Through my engaging sip and paint experiences, I invite individuals to explore new forms of self-expression, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for diversity in art.
I am most proud of my coloring book called “The Black Girl Times: Affirmation, Self Care Edition” ! It came out Dec 20th 2024 and has sold 100 copies under 90 Days. This was a milestone for overcoming my capabilities.
My determination for greatness sets me apart. I come from greatness, so my willingness to do what it takes comes from knowing it will happen. My faith is unwavering, God has taken me and made space for me in places I’ve never dreamt and I won’t rest until lives are changed in ways that they know too they are meant for more.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was being outside in Greenville, MS playing with my cousins, no shoes, care free, waiting for the food to be ready. Love and imagination was all we had and it was life’s purest joy.
