Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittania Chiney B Williams.
Hi Brittania , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
First of all, I just wanna thank you guys for allowing me this platform to express myself and following up with me after all these years it’s been a pleasure. Thank you for your exposure. It is a pleasure interviewing with you. My name is Brittania Racine Jody Williams. Jody was my Nick name As a child my cousin Ewan named me. It was never legally added to my name so a piece of my identity felt missing, I started this journey at school with a friends so I can’t forget them. A man later became my pretend Husband I didn’t give his name because I’m not about chasing clout, but why shouldn’t I brag on my Husband. We went to school together at mineral Heights primary. His name was Christopher Maurice Brown, how I managed to meet this Rockstar In Jamaica I have no idea, but I knew he was destined to have at least four kids and an amazing career, fast cars, and mansions. He also Nicknamed me Chiney. I could see the plan brewing in his mind. I just didn’t expect it to happen as fast as it did. I’m so proud of him. He apart of my fundamentals, but I was always into books. We’d spend time in the hallway but I never knew what class he was in we’d always meet in the stairwell. These are my fundamental memories so forgive me I’ve been told over the last few years that I’m making the story up because he doesn’t speak about me in any of his interviews I’m still in awww at the BP hoodie. Maybe I’d wear it. Maybe our relationship was “fake” marriage when we were too young to have a relationship and he sings about it in his songs. I would like to believe that he’s still waiting for me. The story begins back in 1993.. in my first song “Tone Def”, I discussed meeting him for the first time after standing on this mountain, I asked God who is my other half and everything turned red, and he was the clearest of them all. I said redest in my song because maybe it was a Freudian slip. Or maybe subconsciously I want people to think that we’re enemies. (We started talking again officially in 2023 so I put it in a song “Together” though we’d get to spend Christmas together but never happened) So you knew I had to find my way to Him. He kept saying he’d find his way to me when he did I got hospitalized. Thought he’d come see me in the hospital but nope. Anyways that first day of school i didn’t want to be too presumptuous so I asked him to buy me a patty. He told me I had to give him a kiss first, I told him if you want me to kiss you, you have to call me your wife and he kissed me. I still remember him bringing me a rose. The next day he came with another one. I had lost the first one on the taxi home and i didn’t want to tell the story. He never gave me that second rose I always thought he had someone else so I never felt important so in 1996 I got sent away to America. I spent a year in Boston getting Bullied for my accent and getting told to go back to “Africa” by kids my age. I especially remember Adam and Krista my aunt used to dress me in my cousins old clothes, I looked like a boy. Huge change from the dresses I was used to wearing. I met Peter Ramirez on the school bus even he ran away from me. Just to later, chase me down Marry me and treat me like a queen initially, then suddenly just dismantle all my systems. but I digress. I came back to Jamaica I searched for Chris he had given me an address in Virginia. I didn’t even know there were other countries my mind was blown. I didn’t see him for 30 years until Breezy Bowl and my phone died. Been living on the Eastcoast ever since. I’ve admired his music my whole life. We reconnected 7 years ago. I’ve been dealing with Chris Brown Scammers ever since but it hurts never being mentioned or acknowledged knowing you were the First woman to show him real love and support. He even proposed to promising to one day make the ring real. We played as kids talking in our minds. We’d try to hand each other things in our mind. I had never even seen a rose. It was so beautiful. He surprised me with a wedding day i hadn’t even worn a dress that day. He had me walk through this obstacle course. Holding my hand the whole way. By the end we collided and I became unconscious. I remember him saying “God, can I marry this Woman?” I said yes and I was gone. I remember him holding my hand. We spent the rest of the day separated from each other and my head pounding, no food. I remember looking at him just wanting to kiss his lips. I didn’t even tell my mom we got married. I didn’t know what a marriage was. How does a 4 year old explain to their parent they just went through an obstacle course to marry a man and became unconscious and still bear rings. My parents were not even married. We spent 2/3 years by each other’s side at school. I would leave class to hang out in the hallways, I never even knew where the bathroom was. I looked for him in 1997 after returning to Jamaica I was told he was in America. The guy at Mr. Brown Shop told me he wanted me to marry his son. I swear we were already married so i guess our marriage was a secret. So a secret I remained for 30 years I guess. I’d hear notes of my name but wasn’t sure. In the meantime I fell in love Virtually with Eric, the next 20+ years I spent talking telephonically, electric messaging my Down South King. We would talk on the phone for hours, one thing we never did was plan a life together but we had a lot of chemistry. He’s my Best Friend We finally met and I’m disappointed we didn’t connect like I thought we would we’re still Friends, forever a Southern Girl. Country recognize Country, But he thinks I’m a City girl because I’ve lived in the City the last 20 years. I remember as children we told people that I used to live in Nashville and I moved to Boston so that people wouldn’t question about us being cyber boyfriend and girlfriend, I was originally Born in May Pen Clarendon Jamaica West Indies though They call that the Country but my town is well developed. We had indoor toilets that’s a big deal. I grew up listening to Kenny Rogers, Celine D., Beres Hammond, R. Kelly, Bob Marley, Sizzla K., Jennifer Lopez, Dolly P., Mary J. B, and Whitney was one of my all time favorites her passing hit me. We celebrate a lot of American artists i remember crying when Whitney died, i just remember wanting to be like her, her vocals were amazing. I’ve written my origination story in my book Chronicles of Chiney B. I encourage you read it. In Jamaica they know me as Jody or Chiney, Ms Chin. so people don’t really know me here as that yet. Or at least I’ve been avoiding connecting the two. I wanted to keep my head low when I came here to America, I guess I let him cook i guess if I was to let it stew for 30 years I’d like to believe I did my best to support Chris Browns dreams but I’m trying to focus on me right now and I still bring him up please forgive me for not mentioning Eric. He’s fundamental too. I have some childhood Trauma that I’m trying to deal with. Survival is alot harder in Jamaica this place America is a sanctuary and it should stay as such we need to stop the violence it’s unnecessary. No child should have to fear for their life to get an education. Before even Chris there was Devin Mitchell my neighbor, I remember his Birthday Parties His mom would put me up at the Cake table with him we would cut the cake. It would make some of the girls jealous apparently, we would Catch butterflies in the street. Play with toys, ride bikes with the neighbors. He was also my 2nd Kiss. Maurice beat him to the punch. If we’re talking prehistoric times there was a man in the mirror. He said he was a Prince named Harry. I didn’t believe him until we got a television and I saw him on Tv. Together we were Mr and Mrs Trott. That time I saw him on television it was his mother’s funeral. I had no idea she had died or that he was royalty or what royalty was But other than being a fun loving little kid exploring the realms of my mind these are my fundamentals. There’s nothing like lived experiences. I guess one could go spelunking in their minds. But there’s nothing like trying the actual thing. I’m a huge fan of Love it’s an amazing feeling. I root for it in all forms. I am deeply connected to the ocean too it’s calling me back. Can’t wait to plan a trip to Jamaica, missing being around all my friends and family. My son has written his first book it’s called Darien’s Happy Day, right now we’re looking for illustrators for our project. I hope to release it in the next 3 years. It’s just things are so costly these days you really have to do everything yourself. My son is an amazing child, super smart getting the highest math Mcas scores two years in a row. I was pregnant with him when my husband crashed and broke my foot on our honeymoon, same night dislocated my shoulder try to “help” I hope it was an accident, They estimated him to be 5 weeks by the day I had surgery on my foot and I had to stay awake while they drilled into my foot. It was pretty gruesome, maybe I should have walked away from it all at that point and cut my loss but i stayed hoping for more maybe another honeymoon to make up for this one and I was also helpless. Couldn’t stand couldn’t cook, I was hopeless. So I stayed the foot healed then after the baby we got overwhelmed with the routine and got into an argument I ended up on the floor with subluxation of coccyx. Definitely should’ve walked away right nope, I stayed. launching my platform for Domestic Violence Prevention. BRW LYNX CO. Was supposed to help women and children get connected with resources. It ended up becoming an event planning organization and bitcoins. Then I lost my job. I started getting hospitalized by my child’s 3 rd birthday I was still Breastfeeding. We were ripped away from each other I felt so much fear and frustration. I had no way to express. I also was getting bullied by coworkers and sexually assaulted and abused by coworker, he would punch me in the ribs pulling me by my hair from my desk once as a cover up he later introduced me to music thus the birth of my album “Sense” I released “Sense” which is actually my first album. I was belittled and highly discouraged I couldn’t stand the treatment to make a longer album I felt so violated. He even made a sex tape. I finally escaped that situation after much contemplation by destroying my neighbors car while live on Facebook. I had just discovered the live button I just started going live every-time I was getting hospitalized to keep track of everything. I even started a blog where I post about my journey available on Blogspot Chronicles of Chiney B. The act led to him taking out a restraining order against me and I started sharing my story on facebook to raise awareness he was popping up at my house to assault me i stopped picking up my phone he would pop up. He even started attending church next door to my house from Weymouth Mass. I thought I’d never escape. I’ve been hospitalized 19x trying to rescue myself from my abusive situation. I deserve a world record. He infected me with the coronavirus and I passed it to my dad by accident because he was cleaning my room and helping me. The virus killed Keith Williams my father and best friend altering my life forever. My mom stopped working two jobs and started being home more. The whole family turned against me after my dad’s death. We’re doing better now but still healing from the loss of my father, I don’t think I could ever forgive him. My husband divorced me and I ended up homeless. All I had was my car, after I lost my job because i recorded a meeting after they dismissed my complaint about the rape, I was one of the hardest workers there I know i did more work than most of the people there I loved my job I got to feed people and issue thousands of Dollars in Government benefits. Audi repossessed my truck. I couldn’t stay out the hospital to pay it my family just kept sabotaging me. I ended up in the shelter. Thank god for Fenwood Inn because there are few programs in Massachusetts for families with domestic violence I was shimmied under mental illness problems, I was forced to give up custody of my son and try the system on my own also with all the fake hospitalization it appeared as if I had a mental illness but other than the chemical induced mania I experienced after Carny hospital staff gave me Zyprexa and Haldol on top of Seroquel and marijuana. I was hallucinating I don’t even know why they gave me those medicine they wouldn’t even tell me what they were giving me. They told me after they shot me up what they put in my system I wasn’t even aggressive I just wanted to pace the hallway for my anxiety of small spaces. They had security cuff me to the bed, all this for going out for drinks. I remember I had one Bloody Mary i didn’t even finish it. When I came back my husband at the time called the police and said I was drunk. Had me hospitalized. I just wanted a family. Didn’t bargain for all this. Now I have a shared apartment in Dorchester but it’s like a scattered shelter. I can’t wait to get my own apartment, just waiting for Trump to unfreeze the housing vouchers so I can move I’ve already started looking. I love my city but with all I’ve been through I’m fatigued. I’m hoping something good start happening for me. I have been bleeding since January from the medication they just reduced it and now I’m only one one medication, thank god. After getting hospitalized for making yet another police report of a squad car that was parked outside my house I thought it was an x boyfriend who is now a police officer. My trauma motivated my music. I would really like to plan a hard launch party sponsored by mikes hard lemonade and get my books Chronicles of Chiney B and Vlorna turned into movies. I have started making personal monologues on my phone to be in my feature film someday. My documentary of Chronicles of Chiney B. I just want to live in my truths. I don’t feel mentally unstable and though I have some physical limitations I’m still creating and sharing my journey with others. I’ve been diagnosed With Schizophrenia. I just wish I knew how to navigate the criminal justice system better considering I graduated from university of Massachusetts Boston with Criminal Justice and psychology major degree. I just want to thank my friends Felisha, Renee and Mary for sticking by me. Thank my cousins for coming to visit me as i explored every hospital in Massachusetts. The food was delightful, I put on so many pounds..
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve felt like I was in the way most of my life like I was an obstacle myself so idk how to feel about this question. I never really understood the dynamics of a relationship are we supposed to share our love or is it a personalized experience. I had a bit of hatred from females who thought I wanted their men. So I felt like I was always in the way of someone else’s forever. I know there are things that are destiny. I try not to interfere with destiny. I just stop reading after 36. I had a dream once, saw like a little slip that comes out of your side. It tells you your entire journey.. or maybe it’s just me who can see it. I’ve experienced some gatekeepers keeping me from
Making music. Lack of equipment, prices too high, Loosing my house which was also my studio since I launched my podcast Chronicles of Chiney B. New medication that messes with my thoughts and capacity to think independently, I’m forced to take it or loose access to my kid. Ive spent the last 7 years in and out of hospitals getting hospitalized for reporting harassment. The medication have started to cause internal bleeding not located in the colon. I’m worried for my future. Trying to make reports of my rapist have gone answered in the form of tiny pink pills called Haldol. Wouldn’t that be tough to swallow? I just ask that the pills write my story in the pipes and on the ocean floor for an eternity. A better more precise one than I could. I would like to be a prescriber some day at this rate, I think I’ve gathered enough experience in the field to be an expert. I’ve been hospitalized more than 19x in my last 7-9 years. . I don’t know how much more forced institutionalized I can be. I’ve suffered from facial fractures, shoulder and tailbone dislocations, and a broken foot in the last 9 years. I didn’t think I’d be standing here today. My domestic violence situation was heartbreaking for me I lost everything, my job, my car, my house, custody of my child and I just felt discarded from society. I really want to sue but I can’t find à lawyer willing to help. So I’m in a constant state of frustration over my circumstances like justice hasn’t been served. I can’t even do my hair anymore like I used to. I had plans for a brighter future. I was hoping to develop housing that provides one meal a day. That’s what most people are surviving off of I’m poor right now but you’d never know it, I’ve never felt more alive. Im on government assistance, never thought I’d see that day but I’ve contributed to the system since I was 15 years old working for Footlocker, Road to responsibility, Putnam Investment, Walgreens, and finally the commonwealth of Massachusetts. I’m sure god has better plans for me. I’m trying to keep trusting him but it’s hard. I wish the robots could adjust the course of my life to extreme comfort. I’m battling emotional pain that has become physical, and physical pain from my past experiences. I’m facing unpopular opinions and just criticism from others. I’d say I have a few obstacles. Before i started my singing journey my mom was really discouraging about wasting time on music. I wouldn’t call it a waste of time but I’m barely able to get plays. Maybe this interview will boost awareness.. i also find it harder to be taken seriously with a so called Mental Illness. I’m battling parts of my personality now to accept this label I don’t quite feel fits. But I’m trying to trust my doctors but they’re just accustomed to pushing pills. I feel stable as I am I don’t feel I have anger issues but I have been dealing with some messed up cards.

What sets me apart is my drive and ambition. I’m determined to get better and do better. I believe in making the necessary changes to better my life and trusting god with the plan. My music is different soulful and edgy.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Never give up on love. Better to have loved once than not at all. There are a lot of obstacles in music, make sure you’re doing it for you. Compete with yourself, don’t watch what anyone else does. Take all the help and criticism you can get, Listen to your heart and trust god. Let god guide you, that way you can blame him for all your problems. Spend more time with GOD and your journey, plan with god.. Go to events socialize and mingle. Exposure is important get as much of it as possible and keep going. I try not to watch what other people are doing I just try to be the best version of myself as possible. Dont let diagnoses put you in a category or box you can’t escape. Mental illness is different for everyone other than these doctors telling me I’m schizophrenic I don’t feel any different I’m still me. Just be you and keep creating. Don’t hold onto your music release everything..
