Rising Stars: Meet Consuela Conner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Consuela Conner.

Hi Consuela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
How I started my journey was created to help me with my grief. My mom passed away suddenly on April 14, 2021. I love to paint but because of Covid was not able to really go out and do that. I love candles so it started off as something to help me with grief but then turn into in remembrance of my mother. Candle-making came at a time when there was such much darkness in my life. I wanted my mom’s flame to keep burning so Teresa Ann Luxury Candle Co was created on my mom’s birthday, March 7, 2022.

My candles are vegan, clean burning. They are also made with functional scents. Scents that help with your moods. That’s what helped and inspired me when I made my first candle. Our candles represent emotional healing, peace & most of all love. Hoping these candles will help someone that has gone through the same pain I have and will bring the light back into their life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a hard road. I never saw myself as a business owner. Never thought I would want to be an Entrepreneur.

I didn’t come from a background in business, but from health care so learning the business aspect plus learning the techniques of making candles has been a major challenge. But what keeps me going is remembering my WHY and the purpose of my candles.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As of right now, I work for a major insurance company, Medicare.

Have worked for them since 2016. I do know my journey in candles is what I’m more focused on and building my business and watching it grow. My prayer is to one day see my mom’s name on a storefront. She deserves that.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I have lived here all my life and what I love the most is how we are all willing to help and just that down-home southern hospitality our city holds and is known for. The least is the traffic here has really gotten bad.
