Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Campbell.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I had the name “Grindstone Cowboy” and thought that would make a great name for a coffee shop. It wasn’t until COVID that I realized we should do it ourselves. I pitched the idea to Mindy and she didn’t like it at first. Eventually she warmed up to the idea and we bought our building in 2021. When we opened in 2022, we didn’t realize what was about to happen. We planned on opening a coffee shop that offered a small menu. That all changed when we opened our doors. We immediately became a restaurant that offered really good coffee. After 3+ years Grindstone is something we never dreamed it would be. It is so much more than that.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been pretty smooth since day one. Our biggest struggle since opening is and will always be employees. Other than that, Grindstone Cowboy is an experience and once people come, they usually come back.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a country singer. I have had a decent amount of success over the past 15 years playing music commercially. There are thousands of people that move to Nashville every year with dreams of being on the radio. I was one of the lucky ones to see my dream come true.
How do you think about luck?
In the music business, luck is a pretty big factor. Paired with knowing the right people and having enough money, mountains can be moved.
