Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Benson
Hi Daniel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started learning music by using a keyboard when I was 7. My older sister taught me the basics of chords. When I was 13 I got my first bass guitar and eventually branched out into playing the acoustic and electric guitar as well. I learned through old school rock and blues styles. Eventually I got into songwriting when I was 15. I eventually started writing for other artists. I didn’t start taking my personal music and putting out my own music until March 2024. I wanted to make sure I understood my relationship with God before pursuing such a goal. Now I want to inspire the world and help heal the brokenness we’ve all experienced.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely been very difficult. Lack of financial resources, losing a few friends to suicide, losing my dad to an accident, losing my niece, tough jobs that require a lot of my effort has definitely been challenging. Especially when I’m a college student as well pursuing my Master’s degree. But God has still kept me resilient and blessed me with good-hearted people around me. I’ve also had good mentors to help give me guidance despite the difficulties.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer/songwriter who happens to be a guitarist with the ability to rap as well. I’m considered an alternative pop music artist due to my versatility and diversity in music taste. I am most proud of the gifts God gave me to stay true to myself and be as original as possible. I’ve of working with many different celebrities in different projects but I’ve never wanted to sound like any of them. So I make a conscious effort to sound as original as possible.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing I was a happy kid on the outside. But severely unheard and overlooked on the inside. My family moved around a lot so I never got to grow up in a single area like others were fortunate to. But it taught me to be more fearless about the unknown and allowed me to build healthy relationships with new people who have a common goal. I’m usually pretty disciplined but I enjoy having fun. I work out often (I’m also a CPT through NASM). And I enjoy long-boarding, running, soccer, and simply hanging around good vibes.
