Rising Stars: Meet Darbye Love Simpson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darbye Love Simpson.

Hi Darbye, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Darbye Love Simpson. I’m 16 years old. I started dancing when I was 2 years old. I love to dance. It’s a huge passion of mine. At about 10 years old, I knew I wanted to be an actress. It’s me eat sleep breathe. It’s all I see myself doing as a career. I love everything about it.

I know it’s a hard life, and I’ve learned that at a young age as I’ve been very close to booking numerous BIG jobs. It’s heartbreaking but I try and remind myself how far I made it. In the meantime, I’ve done some amazing jobs. I know this is all part of my journey and I am just enjoying the ride!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My mom has packed me and my sister up several times and we’ve gone to LA for extended periods of time. That’s been hard for her as a single mom. I’ve seen her sacrifice time and time again and one day I’m going to show her how much all she has done for us means to me.

I’ve been lucky enough to make it very close to a few big projects. It’s been a rollercoaster ride of emotions. It’s hard getting so close only to not get it but I’m choosing to focus on my journey and I believe with all my heart that my time is coming. My favorite quote is “manifest it”

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a dancer and actress. I’ve won numerous national titles for dancing and I’ve trained under the biggest names in the industry. I love hip-hop… a lot.

I have appeared on Nickelodeon’s lip sync battle shorties where I performed to “the middle” and I won my episode!

I have appeared in a nickelodeon promo video.

I’ve had a guest star recurring role on the reboot of party of five on freeform.

I’ve done several commercials including Target, and Meijer, and I just did another one coming soon!

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I would say DO NOT GIVE UP. You’re probably going to get told no more than yes. But, if you keep going, the Yeses will increase!

My favorite thing my mom has told me from a young age also is in one of my favorite songs of all time….
