Rising Stars: Meet Elyse Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elyse Miller.

Elyse Miller

Hi Elyse, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been involved in fitness since I was 16. My very first job was in a gym. I’d give people tours and clean equipment. I quickly fell in love with the inspiring atmosphere of watching people meet goals, gain confidence, and transform their lives. I became a certified trainer when I was 18, and I’ve been following my passion for 23 years. As a naturally shy person, I started teaching one-on-one but always dreamed of having the courage to teach in a group. I was thrown into my fear & my dream all at once when one of the aerobics instructors needed me to fill in and teach a large class. I was terrified, but I did it. That pivotal moment taught me how critical it is to push beyond fears & labels that we give ourselves and to chase our dreams instead.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road worth traveling could be smoother, and I’m okay with that. The fitness industry has had major peaks and valleys, and so has life itself. After having kids, I pulled back on my fitness career quite a bit so I could focus more on Mama’s life. After a few years, I realized I needed to return to my fitness passions. A new fire was lit to inspire other moms to be healthy for themselves & their babies.

As many moms can probably relate, I missed my moment. I felt like I was just a messy bun, yoga pants wearing, diaper changing mess – lol. I loved it all, don’t get me wrong, but I wondered if I could have it all & a little extra side of me. I saw a post about a Women’s Health Contest looking for America’s Next Top Trainer. I decided to give it a shot. I felt so out of the game, but my passion was stronger than that fear. I went after it. I have that audition all of my heart!

A month later, I got the blessing of a call that threw me back into the game! I was a finalist. I was honored to be on the cover of Women’s Health! The single decision to chase after this dream (that seemed so far off) was a decision that has led to some of the most extensive career & life achievements. Since then, this “shy girl” has worked with some of the largest companies in the fitness world. I’ve created and led thousands of workouts for fitness all-stars like iFit/NordicTrack, Women’s Health, PopSugar, Huffington Post, and more.

I have also worked as a QVC host, fitness spokesperson & motivational speaker. My dream career has had many ups and downs, but I’ve learned to embrace the ride. Be grateful when things are taking off & be grateful for the slow times to recharge and spend extra time with my family.

Thanks for sharing that. So, tell us more about your work next.
Homeschooling Mama is job number one :-). As far as my career, I’m a fitness trainer & content creator. My husband and I have a virtual fitness platform called QuikSets. We are known for short, effective workouts from home in less than 30 minutes. It’s been such a blessing to see husbands and wives start working out together through our platform and to see entire families transformed into healthier, happier units.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?

  • God! Looking back on my journey, I can see God’s fingerprints on my life. In these moments, I sometimes tried to figure out why things worked or didn’t work as I wanted them to. I can now see that God’s plans are better than mine. That brings immense peace in my daily life and when chasing after dreams.
  • My husband, Chris. He is the one who says, “If that’s your dream, let’s get it.” He has always supported my wild ideas & goals. He helps me balance and organize everything and reminds me of my roots – no matter what happens, my family loves and supports me.
  • Another shout-out has to go to my high school cheer coach. She gave me a shot when no one else did. She saw potential in the shy teenage girl I was. She also named me “most persistent.” That’s a title I try to live up to daily & hold with so much gratitude.
  • My mom and dad. They have always supported me, encouraged me and reminded me that I can accomplish absolutely ANYTHING that I am willing to WORK HARD for.
