Rising Stars: Meet Emma Osborne of Gettysburg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Osborne.

Hi Emma, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey as a visual artist didn’t begin with a camera—it began with a pencil, a paintbrush, and an obsession with light and shadow. I started with commissioned drawings and paintings, slowly learning how to translate feeling into form. Even before I could name it, I was chasing emotion, contrast, and depth—things that still define my work today.

When I was sixteen, my family gave me my first camera: a Canon Rebel T7. I had been using my phone to take endless photos of my friends, trying to show the people around me, that I cared deeply about, how I saw them, to express beauty through my eyes. That camera came with me on a family vacation, and something clicked in me as surely as it did in the shutter. I saw the world differently through the lens. I fell in love with photography, not just as an art, but as a way to tell stories.

I went on to study at the Academy for Media Production, with my Sony a where I earned a dual diploma in Photography and Video Production. I graduated with the second highest score in the school’s history—something I’m proud of, not just for the recognition, but because it reflected how deeply I had committed myself to this craft.

In the early years of my career, I photographed weddings and events for nonprofit organizations. I captured laughter, love, and raw, unfiltered moments. These events were my training ground—they taught me how to think fast, feel deeply, and shoot with intention. But over time, my focus began to shift. I started creating music videos, commercials, promotional content, and eventually ventured into short films. Video gave me another layer to work with—motion, sound, rhythm. It gave my stories new dimensions.

Now, as the founder of StudioEmProductions, I’m stepping deeper into the commercial space, helping brands and businesses craft their visual identity through powerful, thoughtful imagery. When I work with a brand, I don’t just bring my style—I bring my understanding of theirs. I mold my technical skill and creative instinct to best represent their voice, their purpose, their story. But no matter the project, my signature remains: a sense of contrast, emotion, depth, and that painterly touch that’s been with me since my very first sketch.

Outside of client work, I’ve had the honor of serving as a judge for the Video Production competition for SkillsUSA Pennsylvania and the Photography competition for SkillsUSA Maryland. Mentoring and encouraging young artists feels like a full-circle moment—it reminds me of how far I’ve come and how much I still want to give back.

Most recently, I joined Business Network International (BNI), a space where I can connect with like-minded professionals and continue growing my client base. I believe in community, in collaboration, and in using visual media to bridge the gap between people and ideas.

Every time I pick up a camera—whether I’m filming a short film, capturing a product in its best light, or photographing a quiet portrait—I return to the same intention: to create something honest, something moving, something real, with a manipulation of light and color thats not so much photojournalism, but instead the feelings and expressions that can not usually be seen with our own eyes.

This work is my passion. It’s not just about producing beautiful images—it’s about crafting meaningful visuals that resonate. That’s what StudioEmProductions is all about.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely had its bumps, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. As a new photographer and videographer working under StudioEmProductions, I’ve been blessed with tremendous support, especially from my instructors at the Academy for Media Production, Bill and Carolyn Chenaille. They not only taught me everything I know, but believed in my potential from the very beginning—offering guidance, real-world experience, and the kind of encouragement that truly shaped my path.

One of the hardest moments came during final portfolio week. Life got personally overwhelming, and I wasn’t sure I’d make it through. But with their support, I kept going—reminding myself that while I can’t always control the present, I can choose to fight for my future. I finished that week with ten images I’m proud of (even if a few could be stronger!), and that experience solidified my determination to earn my place in this industry.

My family has also been a pillar of strength. While I carry the weight of student loans, I’m grateful for the responsibility—they remind me that my education and career are mine to shape. I’m not here to settle. I’m here to build something real, something lasting.

This journey is equal parts terrifying and exhilarating. But it’s teaching me how to trust others, trust myself, and most importantly, trust God.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in both photography and videography, with experience that spans from weddings to commercials, from prom shoots to pet portraits. I work across a wide range of genres—including fashion, food, real estate, automotive, lifestyle, products, and promotional media—and adapt my approach depending on who I’m working with. StudioEmProductions is also a full-service studio, which means I do all of the pre-production and editing.

To the business owner, event planner, model or musician, I’m a commercial media specialist—someone they can trust to visually elevate their brand with high-impact, professional content. But to the couples, families, and everyday clients, I’m someone who takes the time to understand their story. I focus on creating visuals that capture connection. I want my work to make people feel like their best, most authentic selves, in an image that goes beyond words and how we see ourselves on the daily.

What I’m most proud of is being able to move between these worlds—balancing artistry with strategy, professionalism with heart. I don’t just want to take a good photo or shoot a polished video—I want to create something that stands out. I believe that’s what sets me apart.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that might surprise people is how much I value connection beyond the camera. Most of the bands, business owners, and creatives I’ve worked with either started as friends—or became friends along the way. I love meeting new people, going to small gigs, dancing, and just being in spaces where creative energy flows.

Networking doesn’t feel like work to me—it’s something I genuinely enjoy. I’m not just showing up to shoot; I’m showing up to connect, to support, and to celebrate the people I work with. That human connection is a big part of what fuels my creativity, and it’s one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
