Rising Stars: Meet Erica Case

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Case.

Hi Erica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Sure. Well first, thank you for asking, and second, I’d like to start by giving some backstory of how I got to this point in my music career.

My grandmother, Bessie Lanning started teaching me guitar at the age of 12, and from then, I went on to start writing my own songs. I come from a long line of musicians and singers, with my grandparents Bessie and Floyd Lanning being a part of the country music scene in the 40s and 60s.

Floyd played guitar for Marty Robbins on his first singles and Bessie toured with country music duo Pearl & Carl Butler. And my mother (their daughter) Tara, is a singer as well. I first recorded a few songs at an industry family friend’s studio when I was 15 but I recorded my first official EP, “GIMME SOME” in 2012 at age 20.

I started playing out live that year with those songs. I took a bit of a hiatus after having my son in 2013 but came back with a full-length LP in 2020 titled, “Top Bitch” that I couldn’t be more proud of.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Trying to be a musician in the over-saturated town of Nashville is always going to be a struggle because you have to go above and beyond to prove you’re better than all the talent around this town. That is a huge challenge but I’m more than willing to take it on.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m Erica Case, Nashville native singer-songwriter and self-proclaimed country music star. I’m most proud of my music video for my grandfather’s biographical song, “The Ballad of Floyd Lanning.” I think my vintage country influence and unique vocal style is something that sets me apart from the rest.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I want to give huge credit to James Joseph who helped produce and coordinate my LP and thank all the amazing players who made it special: Pat Severs, Jo Cleary, and Duane Borba. I want to thank Mike and Peggy Severs for always being supportive of me and inspiring me. And most of all my mother and grandmother for being my biggest fans. I love you both so much.

Pricing:

  • My vinyl LP is $29.99
