Rising Stars: Meet Erica Richmond

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Richmond.

Hi Erica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Five years ago, my husband and I made the decision to move from a small town in Kentucky to the Nashville suburbs for his job. I have always had a passion for helping others and when I told people that growing up, they always told me to get into health care. I am not one for blood or needles, so I decided to get my bachelor’s degree in health care administration. To be honest, I didn’t get to help people in the fulfilling way I was looking for and I quickly realized, it didn’t matter how hard I worked, I was going to make the same amount each year. My husband is in sales so I had been around that lifestyle for a while when ultimately, I decided to give it a shot myself. I knew starting a Real Estate career at such a young age, in a brand-new area, wasn’t going to be easy. That is when I decided the best way to put myself out there was through the power of social media. I have now been voted a top Nashville Realtor on social media the last couple of years and have had the opportunity to help so many wonderful people, all because they found me on Instagram. I now have the privilege of teaching other Realtors how they can strategically grow their business through social media as I venture into the mentoring side of Real Estate.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a fairly smooth road so far. Of course, running your own business comes with many ups and downs, some growing pains, and it’s not always easy having to make all the decisions yourself. Not to mention, no two Real Estate transactions are the same. There is a lot that goes into each transaction as you navigate clients through what may be the biggest purchase of their lifetime. However, I have gotten to learn so much along the way and it has been truly incredible to see what this business has grown into for me over the last four years.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Over the last couple of years, I have been a realtor who specializes in new construction and relocation clients. Growing my business through Instagram has attracted many people looking to move to the Nashville area & I enjoy helping families navigate the relocation process after going through that myself. What I am most proud of is seeing how much I have grown my business over the last couple of years, after moving to an area where we didn’t know anyone. I think what has set me apart the most is my marketing approach. I focus on building relationships and selling a lifestyle, rather than just selling houses. Over the last year, I have been asked by many agents how they can also grow their business through social media, so that has led me into the mentoring side of real estate. I have now created a guide that teaches Realtors how to grow their business on Instagram and will soon be hosting training events in and around the Nashville area.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think there are many opportunities that could come from the mentoring side of the Real Estate business and I am excited to see where this new venture takes me. Alongside hosting training events for brokerages, I would like to create a community of women in Real Estate where we can cheer each other on, hold each other accountable, and grow our businesses together. I want to be an inspiration to others to authentically and strategically grow their business while maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
