Rising Stars: Meet Gaea S. Thompson of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gaea S. Thompson.

Hi Gaea S., we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story of restoration began after the sudden passing of my oldest daughter who was a twin in a car accident. I had been operating in ministry for years when she passed. It was not until I experienced the loss of a child that God began to expose himself to me in a different light. Part of my healing came as He began to shed layers off depression from me. It was then that I would be able to tap into my creative nature that allowed me to become and author and creator of junk hats and other items.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road of healing has not been easy. Over the past four years my life has been a roller coaster. When my daughter passed a part of me died as well. There were times I couldn’t sleep, eat or work. It would take every ounce of strength that I could muster to get back on my feet. I had financial struggles that came as a result of not working. When I had the opportunity to do so I invested in myself to create and become a published author. I had a strong desire within to become a better woman than I was before. I wanted to become a conduit of hope for others especially oness trying to bounce back from grief.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
On August 26 2026, I released my first children’s book entitled “Why Do I Feel So Many Things along with its companion activity and coloring book. Grief can bring so many feelings and questions. In this gentle and heartfelt story., a childd named Zuryan learns that there are no silly questions when your heart is hurting. With love patience and a cup of tea, Mom helps Zuryan discover that it is okay to feel, its okay to ask, and joy can still find its way back in. The very next day an Anthology entitled Still Standing was released in which I participated as a co-author. Still Standing is an empowermnt Anthology displayiny women who refuse to lets life’s circumstances keep them down.
In December of 2025 I began designing one of a kind customized junk hats for friends as Christmas gifts. I did not know that they would be desired by so many and becomea hit. I began vending and selling them along with other items at local events. I am proud of these accomplishments. What sets me apart from others is that every piece of literature I have written or every hat I have created is done with love. I want everyone who walks away from one of my creations to feel seen, beautiful and understood. I want people to understand there is still life after pain and that they are not alone.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I do not have a mentor in particular. I do have a PIT (People I Trust) crew. When a race car has a flat or is in need of mechanical attention the driver pulls over to get fixed an jumps back in the race. My PIT crew is there to support, love , motivate and push me to get back into the race of life. God has placed several people in my life to supply me with the things I need to be productive in my endeavors.
