Rising Stars: Meet Hannah Moeller of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Moeller.

Hi Hannah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My entrepreneurial journey started at a young age. I actually owned my first business when I was just 10 years old, so I got an early glimpse into what it was like to be an entrepreneur. As I got older, I worked for other people and experienced what it was like to work under someone else’s direction. Those experiences made me realize just how much I valued working for myself. I loved being able to make my own decisions, solve problems my own way, make my own schedule and have the freedom to create something of my own.

I’ve also worked in sales for most of my career before staging and have always thrived in commission-based roles. I love the idea that the harder you work, the more you can accomplish and earn.

Then, one day, a local realtor and close friend mentioned that she needed a home staged. She told me how much she had been charged for staging and how difficult it was to find a stager in our area. She explained how much of an impact staging can make when it comes to selling a home quickly and for the highest possible price. She needed another home staged that next day, but the stager she had been using was already booked and, in her opinion, priced too high.

Right then, I said, “If I buy the stuff and charge less, would you let me stage it?” She laughed, not believing that I would really do it.

So, I got to work that night . I started buying furniture and decor off Facebook Marketplace and pieced together enough inventory to stage the house. We made it happen! I staged that first home, and honestly, it turned out even better than I could have imagined. From there, the business took off almost entirely through word of mouth.

And that’s really how I got to where I am today. One opportunity led to another, and word of mouth continued to bring people through the door.

I’ve always wanted to be a realtor, but after talking with my friend about what the job is actually like, I realized it wasn’t quite what I had pictured—there are way too many numbers! Haha! So, getting to stay in the real estate industry through staging feels like it fell right into my lap. I truly believe the Lord opened this door and set me up for success from the very beginning.

There have definitely been days when I’ve been stressed and wondered how everything was going to work out. But I’ve learned to say a prayer, keep moving forward, and somehow, things always seem to fall into place.

I absolutely love what I do, and I can’t imagine not doing it. Staging gives me the opportunity to be creative every day and create beautiful spaces the way I would want my own home to look—without having to worry about three dogs and three kids running around! It’s the perfect combination of creativity, entrepreneurship, real estate, and doing something that I truly love.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No way! I don’t think the word “smooth” came out of my mouth during the first year and a half! 😂
There have definitely been plenty of struggles—furniture not working in a space, furniture flying out of the truck and getting ruined, damaged items during occupied stages, rain, and of course, the never-ending U-Haul adventures. We’ve had to learn a lot through trial and error and get really good at pivoting on the spot.
But looking back, every challenge taught us something. The last six months especially have been a huge turning point. I’ve figured out what works, created a strict process, gotten much better at managing inventory, and learned how to pack efficiently so we have what we need without making unnecessary trips back to storage.
It hasn’t been an easy road, but every challenge has made me better, more organized, and more prepared. And honestly, I wouldn’t change any of it. The struggles and lessons are a huge part of how we’ve gotten to where we are today—and they’ve made the business so much better along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is home staging, but to me, it’s so much more than just putting furniture in a house. I help create a vision for buyers so they can walk into a home and immediately see themselves living there. I love taking a space and figuring out how to make it look its absolute best while making sure it appeals to the right buyer.

I think what I specialize in most is networking, problem-solving, and being able to think quickly on my feet. Staging doesn’t always go exactly as planned, so being able to look at a situation, figure out a solution, and make it work is a huge part of what I do. I’ve learned not to panic (as bad as I used to, I def still panic but can hide it better!) when something goes wrong, but to pivot.

What I’m most proud of, though, is overcoming. I’m proud of making it through the stressful situations—even the ones that ended in tears—and still finding a way to make the best of them. I’m proud that I took an idea, started with nothing, and created something of my own.

I’m also incredibly proud that I’ve built this business completely debt-free. Everything we have has been built through hard work, reinvesting, networking, and figuring things out as we go.

At the end of the day, I’m probably most proud that I created something from nothing. I’ve taken the opportunities that came my way, worked hard, learned from the hard days, and built something I truly love.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was definitely outgoing and a little bossy (sorry, sister and friends 😂). I was always a go-getter and loved coming up with ideas and turning them into something real. I started little businesses from a young age — everything from lemonade stands and a jewelry business to an MLM where I actually built a downline and eventually opened a store!

I’ve always had the mindset of “if I put my mind to it, I’m going to do it.” I was very determined and independent, and I loved having something to work toward.

I was also very active growing up. I played travel softball and was always outside doing something. I loved being outdoors, staying busy, playing sports, and spending time with friends. I definitely wasn’t the kid who wanted to sit inside all day!

Looking back, I think a lot of who I was as a kid is still who I am today. That little girl who was always starting something, dreaming up ideas, taking charge, and refusing to give up grew into a woman who creates opportunities instead of waiting for them. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, a competitive drive, and a determination to figure things out and make things happen. I may have grown up, but that “if I want to do it, I’m going to find a way” attitude never left me — and honestly, I hope it never does.
