Rising Stars: Meet Heather Myers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Myers.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After graduating from college in 2004, I started working in the printing industry. This role allowed me to understand the technical side of design while managing multiple projects and deadlines. Craving more creativity, I started doing freelance design, and in 2012 River & Bridge was born.

For the next few years, I continued to build the businesses and experienced steady growth. I had the opportunity to work with some high-profile clients and even got featured in the OC Register (at 9 months pregnant)! In September 2015, after 10 years in the print industry, I took River & Bridge full-time and never looked back. Since then, my husband Brandon has also joined the team, bringing his expertise in operations management.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We are fortunate to have had consistent growth year after year. Our business grew organically through referrals and solid partnerships with event planners. At the start of 2020, we were looking at having our best year yet. And then a pandemic hit and halted everything.

With extra time on our hands in 2020, we strengthened our vendor relationships and refined our processes to better position ourselves for the future. We also made a move from Orange County, California to College Grove, Tennessee! In a year filled with Zoom and (literal) virtual reality, we were confident that we could continue to serve our clients on the West Coast while cultivating new relationships in Tennessee. Over the last several months, we have been encouraged by our community of creatives and the very enthusiastic return of events!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
For nearly a decade, River & Bridge has been entrenched in the luxury event industry, ranging from corporate events to weddings, both locally and abroad. We specialize in branding an event and creating a thoughtful, cohesive story from save-the-dates to invitations to day-of items. All designs are custom and tailored to a client’s vision and personality, making sure even the smallest detail is considered.

We believe that the process should be fun! We aren’t afraid to use color or to think outside the box — we welcome a design challenge. Whether it’s sourcing handmade paper from India, adding that perfect letterpress impression, or curating vintage stamps that honor a couple’s story, we love the journey and consider it a privilege to be a part of so many meaningful moments.

We value communication, responsiveness, and integrity. Do the right thing, do the thing right, and do it in a timely manner.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Having trustworthy partners who share our values (and eye for detail!) has been crucial to the success of River & Bridge. I’ve learned to let go and depend on others during the process. As a self-admitted control freak, it has been a challenge at times, but it has made such a difference in our growth.

Also: Expect the unexpected. Have a backup plan. And always double-check your spelling and postage!
