Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabella Fuerst.
Isabella, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
People often see the awards, the sales numbers, or the beautiful homes I represent and assume my career has always looked this way.
It couldn’t be further from the truth.
I grew up in the small Bavarian town of Obernzell, Germany. Every summer, my mother and I would travel to California to visit my aunt, and from an early age I knew I wanted to build a life in America.
After finishing school in Germany, I earned my degree in Business and Communications and began working for Schwan-STABILO, one of Germany’s most respected manufacturers. I managed sales for U.S. cosmetic brands such as Chanel, NARS, and Maybelline.
Life, however, had different plans.
After marrying an American soldier, I moved to the United States to begin what I thought would be my forever life. It wasn’t. The marriage ended, and suddenly I found myself starting over in a new country, far from home.
I moved to Santa Cruz, California to be closer to family before eventually finding my way to Maui.
Hawaii made a big difference.
For seven years I worked in timeshare sales with companies including Wyndham Resorts, Shell Vacations Club, and Diamond Resorts International. More importantly, I learned how to truly communicate with people, understand their goals, and earn their trust. Those years became the foundation for everything I would build later.
Eventually, my journey brought me to Naples, Florida.
Like many new agents, I assumed real estate would be simple. I imagined clients walking through the door every day, just like the television shows.
Reality was very different.
Naples is one of the most competitive real estate markets in America. Almost everyone either has a real estate license or knows someone who does.
I quickly ran out of money.
At one point I had just $500 left to my name. My car had broken down, and to keep my horse boarded, I made a difficult but necessary decision. I pawned my engagement ring and wedding band simply to make it through the next few months.
I still remember walking into my broker’s office and saying, “Either put me on a lead program, or I’m done.”
He did.
Within a few months I had six properties under contract.
That moment changed my life.
I promised myself I would never again be in a position where I had to wonder how I was going to survive the next month.
That promise became my work ethic.
Today I lead The Fuerst Team at Compass in Southwest Florida. Over the course of my career I have helped hundreds of families buy and sell real estate and have surpassed $400 million in closed sales. I have been recognized among the top 1.5% of Realtors in the United States year after year, an achievement I never could have imagined when I first arrived in Naples.
But success has never been about awards.
It’s about relationships.
It’s about showing up when people need someone they can trust.
It’s about solving problems that seem impossible and helping families build a life they love.
America gave me the opportunity to start over with nothing.
Every day I wake up grateful that I get to help others find a place they are proud to call home.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. Looking back, I think the challenges were actually one of the greatest gifts I could have received.
One of the hardest lessons I learned was that success in real estate isn’t about knowing the most people. It’s about becoming the person people trust the most. I came to Naples without a built-in network, without family connections, and without generations of relationships to lean on. Every client relationship had to be earned from scratch.
I also learned very quickly that this business rewards consistency, not shortcuts. There were years when I questioned myself, deals that fell apart at the last minute, listings that didn’t sell as quickly as we hoped, and moments where I had to adjust and become better instead of becoming discouraged.
Those experiences taught me to be resourceful, creative, and relentless in finding solutions for my clients. Today, if a buyer can’t find the right home, I’ll go off market and find one. If a listing isn’t getting the attention it deserves, I don’t simply wait for the market to respond. I change the strategy.
I think those early struggles gave me a perspective that I never want to lose. They remind me that every client is trusting me with one of the biggest financial decisions of their life, and that’s a responsibility I never take lightly.
Success has been incredibly rewarding, but I still approach every transaction with the same mindset I had when I was trying to earn my very first client: work hard, overdeliver, and always leave people better than you found them.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I help people navigate one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions of their lives. While my primary market is Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Estero, and Fort Myers, I also help my clients wherever life takes them by connecting them with exceptional agents across the country through my network at Compass.
I specialize in luxury real estate, waterfront homes, golf communities, equestrian properties, and helping families relocate to Southwest Florida. But more than any particular price point or property type, I specialize in solving problems. Some of my favorite transactions have involved finding homes that weren’t even on the market or creating opportunities that didn’t seem possible at first.
I think what sets me apart is that I never take the easy route. I don’t believe putting a home on the MLS and waiting for it to sell is enough. Every property deserves its own strategy. Whether that’s staging, video marketing, off market networking, open houses, social media, or personally calling homeowners to find an off market opportunity for a buyer, I’m always asking, “What else can I do that nobody else is doing?”
My business has also been built very differently than many others. I don’t rely on purchased internet leads. Almost everything I do comes from past clients, referrals, open houses, and relationships I’ve built over the years. That has allowed me to grow a business based on trust instead of transactions.
Looking back, what I’m most proud of isn’t a sales number or an award. It’s the fact that so much of my business today comes from repeat clients and referrals. To me, that’s the greatest compliment I can receive because it means people trusted me enough to recommend me to the people they care about most.
I also feel incredibly fortunate to be raising my son while building my career. My family is deeply involved in my business, and I love that my clients get to know us not just as Realtors, but as people. Relationships have always been at the heart of everything I do, and I hope that’s what people remember long after the transaction is over.
What’s next?
I have a lot of exciting things ahead, both personally and professionally.
My husband and I are in the final stages of building what we hope will be our forever home on our 3.5 acre property in Naples. It has truly been a labor of love and one of the biggest projects we’ve ever taken on. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed, and I can’t wait to finally enjoy it with my family.
Looking further ahead, one of my biggest dreams is to transform our property into a beautiful event venue. We already have horses, gardens, and open space, and I envision it becoming a place where families gather to celebrate weddings, birthdays, charity events, and special milestones. Creating a space that brings people together has become just as exciting to me as helping people find the perfect home.
Professionally, I simply want to keep getting better. Real estate is constantly evolving, and I enjoy staying ahead of the curve through marketing, technology, and creative strategies that give my clients an advantage. My goal isn’t to become the biggest real estate team. It’s to become one of the most trusted.
Most importantly, I want to be present while my son grows up. One of the greatest blessings of owning my own business is the ability to build a career around my family instead of the other way around. I hope he grows up watching firsthand what hard work, integrity, and kindness can accomplish.
At the end of the day, success for me isn’t measured only by homes sold. It’s creating a life that I’m proud of, helping people along the way, and building something meaningful that my family can enjoy for generations to come.
