Rising Stars: Meet Jared Dalton of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Dalton.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into marketing actually started long before I ever planned to make a career out of it. After spending a few years in Australia pursuing music, I came back to the States and began sharing performances and collaborations online. A friend noticed how consistent and engaging my social media presence was and asked me to manage theirs. This was around 2012 when Facebook was just taking off and MySpace was phasing out so managing social media wasn’t even considered a real profession yet.

What started as helping a friend turned into something much bigger. For nearly six years, I managed artists and small brands on the side while exploring other creative paths — acting, teaching, music engineering, and event hosting. In 2017, I decided to make it official and registered The Jared Dalton Agency. I built the website, designed the logo, and began promoting my services to my network.

By 2020, I took a leap of faith, left my healthcare administration job, and went all in with the agency. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with over 200 businesses across the country — consulting, managing social media, designing graphics, and building websites. Along the way, I’ve hired a small but mighty team, received a Comcast RISE Grant, received a Better Business Bureau (BBB) Small Business Grant Award, and now serve proudly on the Board of Directors for the BBB of Middle Tennessee & Southern Kentucky.

Today, The Jared Dalton Agency offers a full suite of digital marketing and media services from social media management to web design and national TV and radio advertising. All built around one mission: helping brands tell their story, connect authentically, and grow with confidence.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
t definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced my share of ups and downs that come with running a small business. When I decided to go all in with my agency, I knew the work would be rewarding, but I didn’t fully anticipate how much perseverance it would take to keep things steady through tough seasons.

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced was navigating financial pressures early on, especially my experience with MCA, or Merchant Cash Advance, loans. Those short-term, high-interest loans can sound like quick solutions for small business owners trying to stay afloat, but they can easily become overwhelming. I learned the hard way how important it is to manage cash flow carefully and seek out trusted financial partners instead of quick fixes.

Even through those challenges, I’ve stayed committed to learning, improving, and finding better ways to serve my clients. Every obstacle taught me something valuable about patience, strategy, and resilience. Looking back, those difficult seasons helped shape both my business and my mindset, and they remind me that growth doesn’t happen on smooth roads.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work today is really an extension of everything I’ve learned from being on the other side of marketing. Before I ever built The Jared Dalton Agency, I was an independent music artist. I promoted my own shows, designed flyers, managed my social media, and built relationships with local venues and other artists. Through that experience, I learned how to market authentically, connect with audiences, and create buzz without a big budget. I also had the opportunity to travel because of music, which opened my eyes to how powerful storytelling and branding can be across different communities.

Along the way, I also pursued acting and had the honor of portraying Malcolm X in The Meeting. That role challenged me creatively and personally and taught me how to embody purpose, presence, and conviction. Those are qualities that I carry with me in business today.

Those early years gave me a true hands-on education in promotion, production, and connection. Now, through The Jared Dalton Agency, I use that same experience to help other entrepreneurs, artists, and organizations tell their stories and grow their brands. I’m proud that our agency has helped hundreds of businesses find their voice, expand their reach, and increase their revenue while staying true to who they are.

What sets us apart is that we don’t just run campaigns. We understand what it’s like to be the person behind the brand. That empathy and firsthand experience guide every strategy we create. We’re not just marketing from the outside looking in; we’re building from within.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
A lot of people don’t realize that my background is in music and theater. Before marketing, I was performing on stages, producing shows, and acting in plays. That creative foundation shaped the way I tell stories through branding today. I approach every campaign like a production. There’s always an audience, a message, and a moment that deserves to be experienced.
