Rising Stars: Meet Jennifer MKoma

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer MKoma.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello there,

I’m Jennifer MKoma also known as @Poshqu33n on social media, I’m a Tanzanian woman who was born and raised in Stockholm Sweden before moving to the US in 2002.

I’m an Actress, Commercial Model, TikToker, and an Executive Assistant here in the Nashville community. I’m a woman who is known to wear many hats. Acting all started in high school when I fell in love with the performing arts due to joining a musical theater class. I knew after my first play that I wanted to pursue an acting career.

While in college, I was working hard to earn a degree in medicine to become a doctor to follow in my father’s footsteps. That obviously did not work out. I kept getting involved in visual projects shot by film majors and was always a part of a student film. Working on films is a task that doesn’t feel like work for me.

However, when it does feel like work – It’s work I don’t mind doing. I’m proud to say I still ended up graduating from WKU with a communications & psychology degree. Even though acting is my main passion – I work as an Executive Assistant at a very successful worldwide known company supporting the Senior Vice Presidents.

Let’s talk Tiktok! This journey was strictly luck. Due to COVID, I was stuck in my apartment alone while quarantined to maintain healthy and safe. With no one around – I needed to find some way to entertain myself. I really wanted to create content since no one was allowed to film anything due to COVID rules and protocols. So, I pulled out my phone and started creating funny content.

Whatever popped into my head I would write it down and start recording. It turned out to be a great success. Last year, I had 8 viral videos and got reposted by Snoop Dogg, Taye Digs, Saint Hoax, Octavia Davis, and many more known celebrities. I also received one of the TikTok Genius Creator of 2021 trophies.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle I face is juggling two careers.

There’s not enough time in a day to get everything I want to be accomplished. I sometimes feel guilty when I have to focus on one career more than the other. However, this is a challenge I don’t mind having. I’m blessed to be in this position where I’m able to do both.

There are days when I return home from work extremely tired and don’t want to shoot an audition or even look at a script. However, I keep pushing because I know that acting brings me true joy. It’s worth the hard work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Acting: I’m with an acting agency based in Atlanta GA called “The Avenue Agency”. I work in films, series, voiceover, commercials, music videos, and modeling. My main focus is film.
