Rising Stars: Meet Jenny Teator of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Teator.

Hi Jenny, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Jenny Teator has spent the last eight years carving out her place in Nashville through relentless touring, powerful live performances, and a refusal to fit neatly into one genre. She has evolved into something deeper: a more mature, raw, and unapologetically honest version of herself.

Originally from St. Louis, Jenny moved to Nashville with little more than instinct and determination, immersing herself in the city’s music scene and sharpening her craft at legendary venues like The Bluebird Cafe, EXIT/IN, The Listening Room Cafe, and 3rd & Lindsley, while holding a residency at BB King’s Blues Club. Over the years, she has grown into a nationally touring artist known for commanding stages with equal parts vulnerability, grit, and undeniable presence. From major festivals like Denver Day of Rock and Mile of Music to intimate acoustic performances, Jenny has built a loyal audience by telling the truth loudly.

Her music blends rock, country, and soul influences without chasing trends or labels. Whether delivering soaring anthems or stripped-back confessions, Jenny’s songwriting is rooted in lived experience: heartbreak, resilience, ambition, loss, love, and the messy reality of becoming who you’re meant to be. Her vocals carry both power and grit, balancing emotional depth with a fearless edge that has become her signature.

Beyond the stage, Jenny’s music is deeply personal. Her single “Screaming Eagles,” inspired by her grandfather’s service as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division during Normandy landings, reflects her ability to channel family history and emotional honesty into songs that resonate far beyond herself. In 2025, Jenny was invited to Normandy to perform during the D-Day anniversary celebrations, where she sang “Screaming Eagles” and other originals for some of the last surviving World War II veterans. The experience was profoundly life-changing, deepening her connection to the song, her family’s legacy, and the stories of the men who served.

Now entering her next chapter, Jenny is focused on elevating every aspect of her artistry. Following the release of her debut album Breaking the Mold, she has begun working with Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter Scott Stevens on her upcoming EP, a body of work that marks her most authentic and sonically evolved music to date. Her first single from this EP comes out July 10th, 2026 called “Hell N Back”. This song is incredibly personal. It’s about surviving the people and moments that nearly broke you, finding your strength again, and realizing that what tried to destroy you actually made you stronger. We all have something we’ve had to fight our way through, and this song became her way of turning that pain into power.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not. For the last eight years, I’ve been chasing this dream in Nashville. People see the songs, the releases, the shows, and the milestones. What they don’t always see are the years in between… The nights playing four hour cover gigs just to pay rent while waking up the next morning to answer emails, book shows, pitch music, create content, and somehow find the money to record the songs I believed in. The financial weight of choosing your dream over comfort. Every release, every music video, every trip to the studio, every marketing campaign came with a price tag. There were countless moments where I wondered how I’d make it work, but somehow I always found another way to keep going. There have been more “no’s” than “yeses.” Opportunities that disappeared. Doors that never opened. Emails that never got a response. Shows I thought I had that fell through. Watching other artists get the opportunities I wanted while wondering if my turn would ever come. But every setback forced me to become more than just a singer. I became my own manager, marketer, promoter, booking agent, social media strategist, fundraiser, and business owner.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Nashville-based rock artist and songwriter creating music for people who have been through life’s hardest moments and are ready to come out stronger on the other side. Over the past eight years, I’ve built my career independently writing, recording, touring, and growing alongside an incredible team. My music blends powerful rock vocals with honest storytelling, creating anthems about resilience, healing, and finding your strength after heartbreak, loss, or adversity. I’m especially proud of never giving up. Building a music career independently has meant overcoming financial challenges, hearing more “no’s” than “yeses,” and continuing to bet on myself through every setback. Beyond performing, I’m passionate about using music to make a difference. One of my proudest accomplishments has been creating a music program at Rolling Hills Hospital in Franklin, TN, where I’ve had the privilege of bringing live music to patients during their lunch time and helping normalize conversations around mental health.

What sets me apart is that I don’t just write songs… I write survival anthems. My music is rooted in real life experiences and is meant to empower listeners to reclaim their confidence, embrace their resilience, and know they’re not alone. Whether I’m on stage or in the studio, my goal is always the same: to create music that helps people feel seen, gives them hope, and reminds them they’re stronger than what they’ve been through.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
