Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Tucker
Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi! My name is Jessica & I am a Nashville Native! I was born in Baltimore, MD but moved here when I was in the 2nd grade. So Nashville basically raised me!
My love for makeup & all things beauty started at a young age. My Mom was my inspiration for this. She always had the latest & greatest makeup. I was always wanting to play in hers & see what new este lauder holiday kit she was going to get.
Then, as I got older, I ended up working at Ulta for 5 years. This opened my love for the beauty industry even more. I learned alot there while working there. How to color match different skin tones, proper skincare routines, good & bad ingredients in makeup, and so much more. I started doing makeup on clients at Ulta when we would have special events & I quickly fell in love.
I started doing makeup on my own, doing freelance work. I honed into my craft & worked at it for years watching YouTube tutorials. I became self taught to where I could start taking clients of my own.
Fast forward, I recently graduated Esthetics school. I wanted to broaden my skill set even more. I can now do facials, waxing, & makeup. Over the years, my skills have improved dramatically. It really is all about dedication & practice! One of my big accomplishments is I have been featured in the Southern Bride magazine featuring my work I did for a wedding. I am now apart of 3 beauty teams here in Nashville, TN. I still do freelance work myself. I am actively looking to start doing facials & waxing in a medspa or salon soon as well!!
If you are in the Nashville,TN area & are looking for a esthetician or makeup artist, I’d love to be your girl!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Challenges are a given in this industry.
Self doubt & lack of confidence in your work are two major factors. You truly have to believe in yourself & your work. This confidence will shine through & gain the trust in your client!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have been a makeup artist for 10 years!
I specialize in full glam makeup. You want your makeup to be flawless in photos & last all day? I got you!
I am apart of 3 amazing beauty teams here in Nashville as well:
Anomalie Beauty Agency, Elite Collective & Black Tie & Blush.
One of my big accomplishments is I have been featured in the Southern Bride magazine featuring my work I did for a wedding. I also have done red carpet makeup for a client for the CMA Awards this past year! My goal is to get more celebrity based clientele! In this industry its pretty cut throat, you have to know people & stand out.
So I am manifesting it to happen for me in the next few years!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I never expected to be a makeup artist. I never thought I would be “good enough” to offer my makeup skills as a job to others.
It truly is the most rewarding to create art for each individual client!
