Today we’d like to introduce you to Jet Jurgensmeyer.
Hi Jet, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Well, being born in Nashville, I kind of just fell right into place on stage. When acting came around it was as if I found that missing piece. I started getting on stage when I was about 3 years old, singing, telling jokes, and such. Acting started not long after that, at about 4. This industry is quite literally all I’ve ever known. I always love making people smile and I try to do that through everything that I do. I’ve been very lucky to have a strong backing behind me this whole time through my family and friends and even my co-writers and fellow actors that I work with! I’m very excited to see what the future has in store for me and I hope that my next album will get the ball rolling!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all!! That’s actually what I try and tell people that want to get into acting or music. There are a LOT of letdowns and sad times, but that makes the wins all the better! I’ve definitely struggled with wanting a role and working so hard to get it only to be told that I just wasn’t quite right for it. That has happened on quite a few occasions. The one thing I try and tell people though is if you really want to succeed in anything, you have to be willing to lose sometimes and work harder the next time. If you put your mind to it and just believe that you can do it… then you will! However, it’s not going to happen overnight. I’ve been acting and performing almost my entire life and I’m nowhere near where I want my career to be.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think what I’m most proud of is this upcoming album. When we released my first, I said I wanted to write all of my songs from there on out. That is exactly what I have done! My hope is that when people listen to this album, they will be able to hear me as a whole. Things I go through and have gone through and that I’m just like everyone else that has struggles in life. One thing I think myself and my co-writers have done beautifully is, we write relatable songs. Each song has a personal connection to at least one of us writers on it. So I hope that when people listen to this album, they will be able to relate to at least one of the songs and realize that they aren’t alone and that others are going through the same thing! Now, off the topic of music, I’ve had a blast on every single project I’ve ever been a part of, anything from, Bubble Guppies to Adventures in Babysitting! I have made life-long friends and family from all the shows and movies I’ve worked on! One thing that is really special about AIB is that we are all great friends to this day! We all stay in touch, our parent’s stay in touch, and we try to get together as much as we can. I’m so proud of that because it is so rare to find something like that on any project. I look back at the movies and shows I’ve done and have a memory with all of them! I can’t wait to work on more in the years to come and continue making memories while making some good films for everyone to see!
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I wouldn’t consider myself a real risk-taker! However, I guess when you’re in the kind of business I am, we take risks every day. whether that be putting ourselves out there for a role or the type of song we write. I think that it’s good to take some risks every now and again because without them, we wouldn’t get any farther.
