Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian Eliza.
Hi Jillian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started singing at a very young age. It was always my favorite thing to do. I started writing songs when I was about 10, not knowing yet how to play guitar and just singing a melody along with the words I’d written. I started teaching myself guitar at age 13 and writing the instrumental to go along with the songs I’d been writing. Regretfully, school, sports, and in general, anxiety of playing guitar in front of people, had me put the guitar down, but I never stopped singing.
Flash forward to turning 18 and joining my first band in my hometown of Buffalo NY. I started playing all over New York, up and down the east coast and even made some trips to Nashville to play.
I had great opportunities to open up for and share the stage with many country acts such as, Luke Combs, Brett Eldredge, Lee Brice, Midland, Morgan Wallen, Ashley McBryde, Wynonna Judd, Jimmie Allen, Jordan Davis, Thompson Square, Kip Moore, Travis Tritt, Joe Diffie and many more, the list is a little long but to just name several.
I eventually realized I couldn’t achieve being a Songwriter just from my hometown so I decided it was time to finally make the big move to Nashville to further my Songwriter career.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been quite a few struggles along the road. Between break ups, Heartbreaks, and getting stuck, I’ve had my fair share.
I lost music for a year of my life, as the relationship I was in for 3 years ended, and it happened to be my duo partner in my band. I had laid my guitar down, so I had nothing.
I took a year off unwillingly and tried to find a guitar player so I could at least play duo gigs.
Thankfully, I ended up picking the guitar back up and reteaching myself and was playing gigs on my own within 6 months.
I rethought myself some old songs and wrote A TON more.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a singer and Songwriter. I write country pop songs with a little bit of rock and blues influence.
I am most proud of the next music I have coming out. I’ve worked so hard on it all and I can’t wait for the world to finally hear it.
If I can write a song and someone can relate to it and it can help them even just a little bit, I feel like I am accomplishing what I was made for.
I write alot about the things I’ve been through and try to give different perspectives or explain down to the littlest detail how certain things felt. I want people who are struggling with anything to know that they aren’t alone and it always gets better.
I like to make fun of the things that very happened in my life as well and if people can relate to those things too I like knowing I’m not alone!
What’s next?
I plan to be releasing new music that I’ve written since living in Nashville as well as reworking unreleased music that the public hasn’t seen yet unless they’ve been to one of my original shows. I’m really proud of the works I’ve written and I can’t wait for anyone who will listen to hear them.
