Rising Stars: Meet Jon Moffitt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Moffitt.

Hi Jon, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Theocast was started by pastors of a local church who wanted to provide more opportunities for their church to engage in good theological sound conversations to help strengthen their faith in Christ. What started as simple, fun discussions with a few listeners quickly grew to an audience of thousands listening every week.

From the influence and reach of the podcast over eight years, we have seen three churches planted, a church planting network started, and several books written to help weary pilgrims find rest in Christ. We are excited to see how Theocast will continue to support local and global Christians to strengthen their faith in Christ.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not! Two of the original hosts had to step down because of career changes and time constraints. We had to rebuild the podcast during 2019 and faced a lot of struggles, as many other ministries did during the pandemic. Through these challenges, we’re excited to see our community rally around us and help us reach new people with the message of resting in Christ.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a pastor. I planted Grace Reformed Church in Spring Hill, TN, almost five years ago. In June of last year, we recently planted another church in Columbia, Covenant Grace Columbia. I am excited to be a part of these great cities and offer hope to those in need.

As the director of Theocast, I believe we offer a unique way of understanding complex areas of the Christian life. Both on Sunday in my church and on the podcast, I try to connect the deep theology of God with people’s personal lives.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love how family-oriented it is and would love to see this side of the city grow for all the families that are here. Traffic seems to be getting crazier each year.
