Rising Stars: Meet Jordan Martin of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Martin.

Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jordan Martin, and I am one of the hosts for The Mom Walk Collective in Dickson, TN.

As a postpartum first-time mom, I was craving connection with other moms in the same season of life. After moving back to my hometown of Dickson, I realized I hadn’t really reconnected — or connected — with anyone since moving away. Finding friends as an adult can be hard, but finding mom friends felt even harder.

One day while scrolling Instagram, I saw that an old high school friend, Olivia, was starting up The Mom Walk Collective Dickson chapter. I had never heard of TMWC before, but I remember thinking, “What do I have to lose?” So I did the hard part — I showed up.

That one walk completely changed my perspective on friendship and community in motherhood. After reconnecting with Olivia, I reached out to ask how I could help grow TMWC Dickson and create that same sense of belonging for other moms. Long story short, I became a co-host for our Dickson Collective.

Over the last year, Olivia and I have hosted mom walks, playdates, moms’ nights out, and participated in community events throughout Dickson. We’ve partnered with local businesses to sponsor events that not only support moms, but also shine a light on the importance of supporting local businesses in our community.

Most importantly, we’ve created a space where women can come together to encourage one another and be reminded that they do not have to navigate motherhood alone. Whether you’re a seasoned mom of many or a first-time newborn mom, everyone is welcome.

The Mom Walk Co. Dickson has given me such a strong sense of purpose. It has inspired me to be a better mom to my daughter, a better partner, a better friend, and a better leader within my community. TMWC has brought so many meaningful friendships into my life — not only for me, but for my daughter as well. Watching our children grow up together while building genuine friendships with other moms has been one of the most special parts of this journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all — while The Mom Walk Co. Dickson has been incredibly rewarding, it definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has simply been balancing motherhood while also pouring into a community. As moms ourselves, there are seasons where our own families need more of us, babies are sick, schedules change, naps get skipped, or life feels overwhelming. Trying to consistently show up for other moms while navigating our own postpartum journeys can be challenging.

Another challenge has been getting moms to take that first step and actually come to an event. We’ve learned that so many women are craving connection, but showing up alone for the first time can feel intimidating and vulnerable. Breaking down that fear and helping moms feel comfortable, seen, and welcomed has been something we’ve worked hard to do.

Building community also takes time and consistency. There have been events with lower turnout, scheduling conflicts, weather changes, and moments where we questioned whether we were making an impact. Coordinating events, communicating with local businesses, managing social media, and planning activities while raising young children requires a lot behind the scenes.

Another challenge has been creating spaces that feel inclusive for every stage of motherhood. Every mom’s experience is different — from postpartum struggles, working motherhood, stay-at-home motherhood, single motherhood, or moms with multiple children — and we always want every woman to feel welcomed and valued no matter her season.

Even with those challenges, every difficult moment has been worth it. Seeing friendships form, moms open up, children grow together, and women realize they are not alone has made every obstacle meaningful.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Through The Mom Walk Co. Dickson, Olivia and I focus on creating intentional spaces for moms to build genuine connection and community. We host weekly mom walks, playdates, moms’ nights out, seasonal events, and collaborate with local businesses throughout Dickson County to create opportunities for moms to get out of the house, meet other women, and feel supported in motherhood.

What we specialize in most is creating a welcoming environment where moms feel comfortable showing up exactly as they are. Whether someone is a brand-new postpartum mom, a seasoned mom of multiple children, a working mom, or a stay-at-home mom, we want every woman to feel seen, included, and valued. We know firsthand how isolating motherhood can feel, especially in the postpartum season, and we strive to create a community that helps combat that loneliness.

I think what we are most known for is authenticity and connection. We aren’t trying to create a “perfect” image of motherhood — we want moms to know they can come with messy buns, crying babies, exhaustion, and still be welcomed with open arms. We’ve worked hard to build a community that feels genuine, supportive, and judgment-free.

What I’m most proud of is the impact this community has had on moms locally. Watching women come to their very first walk nervous and quiet, then eventually forming friendships, planning outings together, and becoming confident within the group has been incredibly rewarding. I’m also proud of the relationships we’ve built with local businesses and the way our community supports one another both online and in person.

I believe what sets us apart is that we truly lead from personal experience. We aren’t just hosting events — we are moms actively walking through the same season of life alongside the women who attend. We understand the challenges of postpartum, loneliness, identity shifts, and balancing motherhood because we’ve lived it ourselves. That relatability allows us to connect with moms on a deeper level and create a space that feels less like an organization and more like a group of friends doing life together.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was very outgoing, social, and always loved being around people. I’ve always been someone who enjoys building relationships and making connections, which is probably a big reason why creating community through The Mom Walk Co. feels so natural and fulfilling to me now.

I was involved in sports growing up, and I loved being active and part of a team environment. I think that experience taught me a lot about leadership, encouragement, and the importance of showing up for others. I was also very talkative and energetic — definitely someone who loved conversations, making friends, and staying busy.

Music has always been a big part of my life as well. I’ve always enjoyed listening to music, going on drives with music playing, and just the way it can bring people together and create memories. I also loved being outdoors whenever possible, whether that was spending time with friends, being active outside, or simply enjoying being out in the community.

Looking back, I think a lot of those qualities shaped who I am today. I’ve always naturally gravitated toward people, connection, and creating a sense of belonging, which is a huge part of what I now get to do through The Mom Walk Co. Dickson.
