Rising Stars: Meet Jordy Searcy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordy Searcy.

Hi Jordy, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born into a musical family, parents both have made records, written songs, and worked in the Nashville music scene in the 80s and 90s. I always grew up around it, and knew as early as 5 years old I would have some sort of job in the music industry. I wanted to be a guitar player till I was about 21 and then realized that my real passion was in my songs. I stopped taking guitar gigs and started playing house shows and writers’ rounds. the real story of my music is me playing as many house shows as I could for years, with my buddy scooter spicer on drums/perc. 5 years later, I’m able to live off my streams, make new records, and travel the country playing to listeners of my music!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Music is never a smooth road-the amount of self-booked shows we played was really crazy, and was only something we could have pulled off at that time of our lives. I think that was probably the hardest part, DIY touring 150+ shows a year for a few years.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer/songwriter! I write the best songs I can and record them as well as I can (with the help of friends) and play them live the best that I can.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Maybe that I’ve actually made 10 albums…there are only 2 currently online, but making records takes a lot of work.
