Today we’d like to introduce you to Joselinne Salcedo
Hi Joselinne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my hair journey 16 turning 17, I am now 23. My mom played a huge role in how I got into hair. She is also a hairstylist and the most hard working woman I know. Growing up I didn’t have the best childhood but she always had food, clothes, and a home to give to me and my two little sisters. From a young age I developed good communication skills. My mom had many jobs as I grew up. The most memorable one being The Lebanon Flea Market. I grew up promoting jewelry, bows bags, and other things to help sell at our little section. I just feel like it made me be so greatful for every little thing I have had and have. Working hard at a young age makes you feel greatful. I am a shy individual but it just clicks with hair. All the shyness leaves my body when I have a guest in my chair. I always tell everyone that you can’t fake a good vibe when meeting someone new. That’s why I love what I do . It’s such a great vibe with everyone all the time!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a bumpy road. At first when you start in the hair field you want to soak everything up fast and know everything. But it’s such a slow process. Learning about hair is a non- ending journey , that’s the beauty in it. I’ve learned so much and will continue to expand my knowledge always.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In the Nashville, and surrounding areas I feel like I am sought out by a lot of people because of the haircuts and blowouts I do. What sets me apart from a lot of people in my field is that every time you are in my chair I will be completely honest with you and give you the best recommendations in a truthful way.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In a couple of years there’s definitely going to be more to learn and trends that always come back. I’m hoping that knowledge will expand into creating something that helps with hair loss in a more timely matter. Hair loss can be from after giving birth, stress, hormones, and so many other things . Women are so strong and our hair is our pride. It’s what we wear everyday.
