Rising Stars: Meet Justus Storm of Nashville, TN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justus Storm

Hi Justus, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It really all started when my grandfather bought me an acoustic guitar when I was 11 years old. I’d sit and listen to their CD/Radio boombox while picking out the chords to songs. I took one lesson and learned 5 chords, and picked up the rest on my own. That quickly turned into singing along with the songs (and upgrading to an mp3 player lol). Once I graduated highschool, I received a full ride scholarship that allowed me to study business, particularly pertaining to the music industry, at the University of North Alabama.

This was a pivotal point in my career, where I met several friends that played music, and we started the first cover band I was ever in. We spent 4 months playing in a garage learning songs and building a 50 song setlist, which lead us to playing full band shows in 5 different states. After a lot of learning and teeth cutting, the band split up and starting pursuing different lanes.

After a few years, and receiving my degree, Drake Lopez (the drummer) and I reconnected and began focusing heavily on songwriting. So much in fact, that we decided to move to Nashville and pursue the dream of being Artist/songwriters. Now, we’re in the country music capital of the world where I have been lucky enough to get several indie artist cuts, get the chance to open for people like Chris Young, and start on my own project that will be my debut release.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The band splitting up in college was a tough, but valuable lesson. I learned more things that I can list in this article.

I tried moving to Nashville shortly after graduating college, but on the way to town to look at an apartment, I hydroplaned in my car on the interstate and crashed into the ditch – ultimately totaling my car. I was forced to go back to Alabama and spend another few years saving money to buy another car.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an Artist/Songwriter. I write songs for other artists and myself. I play live music around Nashville and Alabama, and currently getting ready to start working on my debut project. I’ve spent the last couple years building a song catalog.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Follow me on all the socials. If you like to write, send me some of your stuff or links. I’d love to do the same and see if we vibe. For support, simply just find me on social media. I’ll be announcing soon when we will be working and releasing my first single this fall.
