Rising Stars: Meet Kat Stewart

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Stewart.

Hi Kat, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started as an intern at a recording studio in my hometown Massachusetts. I began writing songs in 2020 in hopes that my music would inspire hope in people.

When the pandemic lifted, I began playing my music at concerts and touring around New England. Since then, I have released my debut single “Pass Me By” and began playing concerts across the country.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s always hard to start with something new like my music career. I found that in a lot of ways my friends being so supportive helped me overcome my insecurities.

Writing and recording music is a vulnerable process and I have had so many projects that I believe in and have been so excited to share with the world. Sometimes my worst enemy in writing is myself and learning to overcome those insecurities to help someone else has been a rewarding experience.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a multi-instrumentalist and a songwriter. I have learned to play over 13 different instruments from piano and guitar, to cello and ukulele. I enjoy incorporating different instruments into my music and playing them at concerts.

Being a young artist, I am most proud of how God has used my music. It’s humbling to know that this is only the beginning for me. I’m proud that I can focus on creating music to help inspire others to be closer to God. I have been given so many opportunities so early on as it is.

I don’t see what might set me apart from others. I am grateful to those who say that my music and my presence on a stage change the atmosphere in a room. I started making music during the pandemic and I am just so thankful that coming up through that has given me a perspective to write from.

I think my music is raw and vulnerable but also encouraging. That is my hope, that when people listen to it, they have a sense of peace and joy that I have experienced through my walk with God.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
A lot of people don’t know about my hobbies outside of music. I have horses, I love to play video games, and I am obsessed with Star Wars, specifically R2D2.
