Rising Stars: Meet Lauren DeYoe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren DeYoe.

Lauren DeYoe

Hi Lauren, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My journey began at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I received degrees in Kinesiology, Athletic Training, and my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. After graduating, I was ready to take a break from the Wisconsin winters and explore a new city. I chose Nashville after I spent a semester there as an intern. To me, Nashville felt like the Midwest but with a southern twist.

For the next 8 years, I worked at a fast-paced outpatient orthopedic clinic. I was perfecting my hands-on skills and learning a lot, but the high-volume structure limited my time with each patient and my treatments were being dictated by insurance companies. Towards the end of those 8 years, I began to lose myself. I was spending so much of my professional career trying to be everything to everyone that I became chronically fatigued and my anxiety was at an all-time high. I needed to step back and focus on my personal goals.

I began professional therapy for my mental health but also wanted to work on my spiritual health. That is how I found Reiki – or how Reiki found me. Reiki is a healing practice in which the therapist helps focus energy in the patient’s body to activate their natural healing. I worked with a Usui and Karuna Reiki Master who helped me calm my anxiety and discover my true self. As I learned more about Reiki and its many benefits, I began training as a Reiki Master when I realized how these techniques could help my patients in pain.

That is how I developed the idea for my business and started Reiki PT. I combine Western and Eastern medicine – Physical Therapy modalities and Reiki energy healing. Combining these two practices offers unique solutions to help people recover from injuries, relieve pain, and address chronic conditions.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a roller coaster! When I was burned out, it affected my confidence. I knew deep down I needed to leave that job, but I was scared. Change takes a lot of energy and courage and I was lacking in both.

With Reiki, I was able to regain my confidence, find my voice, and decide what I wanted. Turns out that what I wanted to do was start my own business. There was still fear present, but now I dared to face it and keep moving forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I help people in pain who feel they’ve lost control of themselves to reclaim their power so they can live a life they love. I do this specifically by helping on an energetic level through Reiki and on a physical level through Physical Therapy.

My practice is a concierge service–I come to your home or place of business on your schedule for a one-on-one session. If you are not in Nashville, I also offer virtual services and consultation.

So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
My priority is making sure my patients feel seen, heard, and appreciated. As a PT, I am in a unique healthcare profession in that I can spend a lot of time with my patients.

I feel it is very important to try to understand what my patient is going through and how this pain/injury is affecting their quality of life.
