Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauryn Dunkle.
Hi Lauryn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always been that “weird artsy girl”. At summer camp I had other kids getting drawn on by me with sharpies and pens. That’s when my bff Jori suggested I should become a tattoo artist. We were 9yrs old. Now at 30 I’ve been tattooing for 7.5 years professionally.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve always struggled fitting in. Often switching jobs not because I couldn’t do the work but I felt like a freak amongst my coworkers. It’s one of many reasons I’m so grateful I tattoo. I have my own space to create art with my clients.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a licensed Tn tattoo artist of 7.5 years. I’ve mostly worked at walk in street shops throughout my career. This has led me to learn how to do most tattoo styles that folks ask for when walking in. Maybe my niche is I have no niche🤷♀️.
I would say my clients know me for my loud outgoing personality and my ability to talk about almost anything. I definitely am a yapper
How do you think about happiness?
I’m so so grateful to be a tattoo artist. I have so much fun creating artwork that impacts someone’s life. It’s such a blessing.
