Rising Stars: Meet Luca Kazemi of Columbia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luca Kazemi.

Hi Luca, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Music has always been a way to help me find myself. When I was young, I was really around it all; every possible genre had been running thru my ear by age 10. I knew I needed something different, a way out when it was all over. It wasn’t until 2017, when I started my actual craft, that I got put on house arrest at the end of age 16 for playing the wrong part. From that moment, everything changed.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road. Obstacles are thrown at us every day. You must jump over them.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make music for the misfits. The ones that care too much. The ones that are tired of being told what to do. My music is acceptance.

If we knew you were growing up, how would we have described you?
I was born in Atlanta, GA. I moved to Spring Hill, TN, when I was 11. It wasn’t easy, and it never is being the new kid. I got bullied a lot. It took a while for me to find my way. My mom was a single parent that worked 9-9s, so she didn’t have it easy. Because of that, I just did and went wherever I wanted. She’d get calls to get me out of whatever trouble I had gotten into regularly. My younger years 100% play a big part in my music.
