Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Solomon.
Hi Lynn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have been drawn to artistic expression ever since I was able to hold a pencil. As I’ve grown as an artist, I have learned that my purpose is to help bring other people’s ideas to life. Digital marketing became my outlet for this expression once I began digital design classes in early high school. Now, freshly graduated with my Associate in Arts and Bachelor’s in Graphic Design, I have had the opportunity to bring a multitude of personal projects and client work to life.
While at university, I participated in Match Records, Middle Tennessee State University’s student-run record label, where I served as a member of the creative and marketing team. Working with Match Records provided me with experience collaborating with clients working to build their brands as music artists. I was also involved with the MTSU chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, where I served in the leadership position of event coordinator. In this position, I generated opportunities for my peers to network and stay involved with our graphic design community. In addition to these hands-on experiences, I also had the chance to work with Dead Horse Branding, a unique creative brand management company that creates, designs, and refines every facet of the brands they have worked with.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
While pursuing my degree, I made sure to involve myself as much as possible to help in growing my design experience. At times these additional commitments had a bit of overlap, so it proved challenging to balance all of them at once. For example, I served as the gallery director for the 2026 Graphic Design Senior Show while also working a part time job, part time internship, full time school schedule, and two additional design oriented extra curricular activities. Doing all these simultaneously helped me to build my ability to delegate my time to balance many important tasks while still maintaining the necessary amount of attention to detail needed to successfully complete the job.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
After years of building my design tool kit, I have curated a unique, creative, and alternative spin on the projects I am given. This being paired with my ever-growing passion to bring the ideas of my collaborators to life. My drive for design typically points me towards the realm of editorial and package design. I love finding opportunities to meld my appreciation for illustration and typography into a collaboration of stylistic digital marketing driven to create a successful product. Thanks to my collaborative experiences while interning with Dead Horse Branding, I have had the opportunity to work on brand pitch decks and music branding for clients. This goes hand in hand with my freelance experiences of logo creation, book illustration, and opportunities of working with local businesses.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
The most prominent apps I use to achieve my design goals are the adobe suite programs. I frequently work in adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. As for my motivators, I use music apps to set the tone as I design. I listen to a lot of shoe gaze, synth pop, and switch up to 70s/80s roots rock every so often. For my recharge time, I frequently spend time in nature visiting creeks and waterfalls. As well as going out and supporting the local music scene and upcycling clothes.
