Rising Stars: Meet Megan Byrd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Byrd.

Hi Megan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I studied Exercise Science at Belmont and started working in the fitness industry upon graduating. After a few years of working in the industry as a personal trainer and as well as in corporate fitness, I started to feel like something was off.

I started to learn more about inclusive wellness and non-diet coaching; how to be more supportive to folks in all body shapes, sizes, and health statuses. This is what initially inspired me to start my business and provide non-diet movement coaching.

I provided online strength programming and worked with clients virtually. My business was born out of a desire to make the fitness space more welcoming and accessible to more folks so they could move their bodies joyfully, not as a form of punishment.

I continued working in fitness and working with clients but I felt like something was missing. A lot of my clients struggled beyond just wanting to practice joyful movement; they wanted more joy in their lives as a whole. So in late 2020, I completed a life coaching certification program and became a certified life coach.

Now I offer 1:1, habit, and group coaching with a focus on joy, self-growth, and mindfulness!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a very tough road- entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart.

It also took me a long time to discover what I really wanted to help people with but underlying everything was the desire my clients had to move from just surviving to thriving.

I think it’s difficult to devote time and energy toward joy when it feels like there are a million other things on our to-do list. But I think that putting joy first, allows everything else to fall into place and it shifts your perspective toward what really matters.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Joy + Mindfulness Coach and I help folks prioritize their joy so they can thrive in life.

What sets me apart is my focus on joy. I did a lot of self-exploration after a really hard breakup in my early 20s and what I noticed was that the growth I experienced and the work I did, led me to more joy in my life. It’s important to me to help others do the inner work it takes to change their inner world.

I offer 1:1 coaching, a community membership, and habit coaching- all focused on joy and mindfulness.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is that joy matters and it can’t be a secondary thought. Prioritizing joy fills your cup so you can do good work, have an impact, connect with others, and fill your own cup.
