Rising Stars: Meet Michael Shepard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Shepard

Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Music and entertainment has always been in by blood. Whether it be spinning tunes on the DJ decks, hosting karaoke, putting on songwriter rounds, or producing festivals, I do what I love, and I love what I do. Over the past 17 years things have just evolved in whatever direction the universe saw fit. I typically just grab a niche and take it as far as it needs to go and then either pass it off or drop it all together and proceed as needed. But the overarching goal is to show people a good time and provide a high vibe experience.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One cannot truly learn on smooth roads. Lessons can only be learned within the chaos. The mistakes and failures that knock you down are there to teach you something. Show you where you went wrong and how you can do it better next time. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is to always have back ups on back ups on back ups. From multiple laptops, iPads, speakers, cords, external hard drives and batteries, microphones, mixers, etc. The entertainment space is an “in the moment” type business. All eyes are on you the whole time. If something goes wrong, it must be fixed on the spot, and as quickly as possible. I have made more mistakes than I can count, but I only make them once or twice. As the business grows so do the challenges, but with high risk comes high reward.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My #1 job is the provide the client with a unique and high vibe experience. I really enjoy showing people something they have never seen before. While YVE started out as an event DJ company, it has now evolved into a live music production company that specializes in shining a light on independent artists. Our company spends countless hours scouring the music scene, networking, going to shows and writers rounds, as well as hosting our own events. We love creating close relationships with talented artists on the front end and helping them grow their career to the big stage. We like to think we are their biggest fans!

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Festivals. That is currently our bread and butter. We can handle anything from a small independent artist gathering to large multistage, weekend long extravaganzas. If any artist or promotor wanted to put something together, we have all the gear and talent needed to make it happen.
